Answered your own question there... We're not even 100 years after a devastating world war caused by a certain ideology and look at the political landscape of quite a few countries that were also the worst affected by it.

I popped to my local Asda this morning to get some supplies and it was almost pleasant. They were limiting how many could get in, regular messages over the tannoy to keep your distance, most things in stock and half the tills were shut so people could stay apart. They even had my pineapple Jaffa cakes in stock! \o/

I know, they're all online. The website is on and off like Donald Trumps's brain cell.

    i.e. Mostly off.

    Yay, it's back.
I headed straight to checkout to make sure it was finalised.

This is going to be a very long quarantine if the mrs keeps watching the SD version of ITV and BBC.

Ah man, that drives me insane. Sadly C4 have pulled C4 HD from Freesat, which is very annoying

It's part of the ritual. Watch fuzzy TV for 2 seconds before changing to HD

I do partially blame sky. Why the fuck do they still have the SD versions front and center in the channel list?

It will only change if we make it change.

Make political parties of all colours understand that the NHS isn't a political football, it's a nationally important asset that is above party politics.

    Ditto the BBC
I agree entirely with this sentiment and have for a while now thought that there should be some sort of reporting restriction on the NHS. Stop it being used as a pawn for political parties. It doesn't do morale of workers any good either to be constantly exposed to spin in the press....

It's an Offcom rule, they can only offer them if HD is an exact simulcast of SD.
Currently the SD channels can't do regional opt-outs like news, etc. on HD, due to bandwidth problems on Freeview, that is being sorted. But its not a quick thing due to having to move channels and transmitter settings around.

Just been to Congleton Morrison’s whilst the Mrs. went to Poundstretcher.

Queuing ‘round the carpark in Morrison’s, but I got what I wanted via a very civilised and cheery “letting a couple in at a time” system. Actual choice was limited, but they were well-stocked and I got what I wanted either completely or a decent compromise.

It’s quite surreal still, but people are generally coping. However, there are stories of gangs of youths congregating at the town’s railway station rushing people and coughing on them.

    Brilliant.

The galling thing is that the wife was a broadcast engineer for a few years and still works in TV. She knows perfectly well that it looks like shit, she just cant be bothered to change channel.

My GF would happily watch films on VHS recorded off the telly if I'd let her

Word on the street is there's a national egg shortage.
Very very worrying. Even as someone who doesn't much care for them. What the hell will this years' cress harvest be used for?

There's not even hotel buffets to sprinkle it over anymore.

    @richardiox

    There are plenty of eggs.

Here’s a repost of my message this morning.
    With a source supplied.

    Here’s one from left field.

    Save an egg box.

Although there’s absolutely no problem with egg supply- there’s the millions of eggs that MacDonalds would have used available- there is a problem with the supply of egg boxes. The main supplier, a Dutch company, has shut down for two weeks to protect its workers, which is causing a few problems packaging the MacDonald’s eggs.
Taking your own box back to the supermarket and having a new barcode sticker put on the box is one possible solution that’s being pondered.
