They missed out cornflake and bacon surprise.
We bought a kilo pack of bacon and didn't split it up before freezing it, so I've had to defrost the whole fucking thing in order to use any of it. So it's bacon for every meal from now on till it's gone.

Registered 17 years ago@challenge_hanukkah Its not really surprising atm is it?
I tried online ordering back in the day when it first began a couple of times, didn't always get what you wanted and the substitutes were sometimes bizarre and the condition of the fresh food was obviously never considered by the picker. I can't imagine its change much. I have looked occasionally at doing it now to avoid having to go out but there's never a slot available and I'm physically quite able to do it so I don't mind.
The fat cow across the street for me (my crappy WFH setup looks out across the street) has consistently been getting one delivery a week from Morrisons, Tescos and Sainsburys for the last three weeks at least, just how many orders do they need! -

Registered 17 years agoI'm staying in this virus related thread today. All the angry talk of haircuts and clapping in the other one is upsetting my delicate mental balance.
And not enough chat on chubby princesses and model robots for my liking. -

Registered 15 years agoThe other thread's gone a bit mad today, though it's been quite fighty for a while now. I've got this uncomfortable feeling it'll end up being the thread that breaks the forum.
Which is probably a metaphor for something.
Edit: On a happier note, I've been going for walks in the evening to compensate for the loss of the exercise I used to get on my commute and yesterday found a Co-Op I never knew existed less than 10 minutes from home. Happily, nobody else seems to know it exists either, as I got in and out with no queue and they were pretty well stocked.

Registered 17 years agoYou are like the deer and goats taking back the towns - you roam free at night, reclaiming and rediscovering the environment you were born to inhabit.
That Co-op is your destiny. -

Speaking of which, there was someone on the radio this morning who said his son has started dipping Oreo's in slightly congealed gravy. And thought it worked himself -

Registered 14 years agoWe had an unexpected challenge today after finding out that our son has inconsiderately decided to keep growing and needed new shoes otherwise he would be extra locked down. Of clurse no shoe shops are open and he has awkward feet size at the best of times so online ordering wasn't ideal.
Luckily Sainsburys was the one local supermarket that actually stocked shoes. Luckily he isn't over fussy about brands etc as the choice was obviously limited. Now to hope they last a bit... (not sure what was uo with supermarlet sizes but a leap from adult size 8 to having choose aize 12 is ridiculous (the smaller sizes weren't wide enough).
On the other hand easily picked up some loo roll on the way home... -

Registered 14 years agoI sense that the Sainsburys shoe sizing doesnt quite match the standard and we had to go a little bigger for the width as easier to add an insole or the like than widen the shoe. I am only a 10.5 normally and his foot is smaller than mine so should be a 9 we reckon but shoe places you can try pairs on are in short supply. First time we have ever bought shoes in a supermarket I think. He obly got new ones a few months ago too. Darned teenagers.
Cycle shops and garages can remain open for cyclists and drivers but nothing for us pedestrians. I could do with some new trainers myself but I can hopefully cope with something online if needs be.
He has been shooting up heightwise in last few months too though... -

Registered 18 years agoI guess all you can do is buy a shoe measurer and then choose a brand online that you know sizes quite accurately. Have to admit, not looking forward to that phase, sounds even more expensive than normal. -

Registered 15 years agoMy advice would be to bind his feet. When I went from a 12 to a 13, I pretty much stopped being able to find my size anywhere other than the internet and even then its generally direct from the manufacturer. Its fine buying from Adidas, Nike, Clarks, whatever but buying from Office, Size? and any other reseller is impossible. -

Registered 5 years agoYeah we've went the feet binding route. Starting putting those rings around his neck that give him a neck like a giraffe too. Big gap in the market for scarf models at the moment. -

Registered 15 years agoI used to hate it when there was a Ten-pin bowling trip from work.
The small sizes get changed fairly regularly, but being size 13 meant I got the old pair that had been festering under the desk for the last three years. -

Are you sure you have the right son?
I've read plenty of stories where children get swapped at birth. So maybe this happened but at a later age?
Have you done a DNA swab? -

I would prefer to wear an old pair that's been festering for a while rather than the moist sweat soaked pair that have been used by 10 randoms a day. That said the last few times I've been bowling I've just worn my trainers.
