Ok, so harden is an offensive attack and not a clutch block... I am getting it now -
First boss down, parry enabled
Parry doesn’t always work..

Registered 8 years ago@Graxlar_v3 yeah harden is very much an offensive move. Run, start your attack, harden, get hit then finish your attack. Repeat. -

Registered 8 years agoI wanted to do a PS5 run with the soundtrack but couldn't see any way to get it working so don't think it's on that version yet

Registered 14 years ago@wuntyate I played about an hour and then poked about in the extras menu and it was just there. I had no idea it would be, and I ruddy love RC so was very happy to stumble across it.
Presumably you've finished it, how does it compare to the Souls games? -

Registered 8 years ago@BigOrkWaaagh Yeah me too, gutted I can't access it on the PS5 one but I presume they'll get it on there at some point.
It's nowhere near on a level to Souls and it relies very much (perhaps too much) on the harden mechanic, but it's very good indeed. Really atmospheric and looks the part. I took a while to make sure I was happy with the shell that I was inhabiting was the right one for my playthrough as they are all quite different from each other. So make sure you find them all in the swamp and try them out before committing too many upgrades to one that maybe doesn't suit you. -

Registered 14 years ago@wuntyate Good advice. I only have one shell so far, but it seems to be basically the way I played souls so I'm fairly happy with it already, but I will try out the others.
Did you upgrade to the enhanced edition on PS5? Also there is a Rotting Christ pack for it on the PS store, have you tried just downloading it and seeing what happens? -

Registered 4 years agoGet all the shells before you start spending upgrade points on any. They are all near the start ish. Wait until you get a beast mode tank shell then upgrade that and it's like playing animal crossing. Very good game but not anything near a From game as wunty said. -

Registered 8 years ago@BigOrkWaaagh Yeah I tried that but it doesn't work. That was when the enhanced one just came out mind you so may be sorted by now. I'll maybe try again later. Fucking love RC and the thought of having it over the boss battles fills me with joy. -

Registered 14 years agoI've found all the shells now, I think I like the paladin type with masses of health and little stamina. Am I right in thinking there's no level ups as such and you just pump your not souls into skills at the not nexus? I'm trying to not reveal very much and just discover things for myself but I don't want to completely fuck myself if it turns out I'm doing it wrong.

Registered 8 years agoYeah that's right iirc, you just level by allocating skills. I went the little thief type shell and the huge sword first time around. -

Registered 14 years agoI'm kind of in the swing of things now and I'm finding it way less painful than Souls because you effectively get an extra life, increasing to 2 if you've already died as you can reclaim your lost shell and heal up, and I think I've just unlocked a 3rd with my Paladin chap, but I've yet to understand exactly how many things I have to kill to activate it. Also because not-souls seem a bit less important and you get to keep your glimpses on death. Still early days so I don't want to get too over confident, I just hope you don't get forced to switch shells at some point because I've kind of pumped everything into this one guy and neglected everyone else. -

Registered 14 years agoSo by into the swing of things I guess I meant "almost at the end".
Early doors was a bit Souls-ish with that feeling of death around every corner, and the last boss took me a few goes but generally after I'd made it halfway through dungeon 2 (of 3) I felt kind of unstoppable. I wasn't, obviously, and that overconfidence made me pay once or twice but overall I found it wayyyy easier than Souls. I don't think any boss except the last took me more than one attempt. Still good though, I really enjoyed it. -

Registered 4 years agoJust go solid when he does his rush attack. Roll through the waves. His combo you can parry and you should be able to go solid if you can't parry. Which shell? Tbf I was the tank shell so maybe he was a s.o.b. with that low health high stamina one. -
Last boss took me a while. Not a fan of his regenerating shit. If you kill his minions before they get sucked down the hole he doesn't regen too much -
@Bichii yeah I tried the tank shell and couple of others but couldn't get the rolling through the waves timing right and this thing destroyed me. I will try again someday but really enjoyed the game.
