I would say Red Eyes by The War on Drugs but there’s a bit of recency bias in there -

It's an utterly impossible question, I've got about 17 different ones depending on mood, that's why I wanted to know what people would say. Plus I'm hammered and trying to think of stuff to listen to.

Registered 13 years ago@Decks yeah it is an impossible question. One of my favourite tracks ever is Talisman by Air (French Band) but that’s more about what I was doing and the mood I was in when when I recall it rather than how good a song it is -

Registered 6 years agoHa similarly All I Need from the same album is one of my favourite songs because of this video. And the girl I was struggling to get over in the late 90s. Air were a legit fantastic band back then anyway though.

Registered 17 years agoParanoid Android by Radiohead is probably one of them. It gets an emotional response from me every time and I can't help but air drum along, cos I'm cool. -

Stuff I consider relatively recent is actually ancient history -

Registered 18 years agoTricky one, but my funeral songs would be Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd and My Funeral by Dope. So not necessarily my favourites, but songs I'd like people to remember me by. -

Very good but the Bonnie Prince Billy original is even better and I say that as a Cash fan and I have all the "original recording" albums by Cash with loads of wonderful covers
I See A Darkness by Cash. That's right, I get to say Cash.

Registered 14 years ago@Retro74, good call.
I've been hammering the last two War on Drugs albums recently, Eyes to the Wind has been my drunken/emotional goto a lot over the last 6 years.
Tough question on the op, maybe Idiot Wind by Bob Dylan for me. Or Desolation Row.
Depends on my bile levels. -

Idiot wind
Blowing every time you move your teeth
You're an idiot, babe
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe
I love these lyrics so much. -

Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here -
This is impossible but I'd say Iggy Pop's China Girl is close to the top for me.
QOTSA and song for the dead feels like the perfect rock and roll song and Interpol's PDA for the pure emotion.
Those would be in my top 5.
