My most anticipated movie in years. Love all things Dune, re-read the six books at least every other year (there are only six books see, seven if you count Dune Encyclopedia I guess), replay both Dune and Dune 2 every so often, have Spice Opera in a frequent playlist, even tolerate the David Lynch movie for what it is.

But definitely the six saga books are the best. Just the six books. No others exist. None.

You should play the board game, Gremmi, if you haven't already. It's rather good!

Yep, have it. Only downside is that it only really works with full player counts. Tried it two player and it loses a lot of the strategy and diplomacy.

I think it's alright with three or four. But you're right, the best fun comes from the delicious interactions with all the various powers and such. There's nothing quite like playing as the Bene Gesserit, having someone else win on turn 8 or something, and you going

Yep. It's a good thing Frank Herbert never had kids, or one of them might have co-written such books. But he didn't so they didn't. And while we're doing it, Frank Herbert rewrote Chapter House Dune to leave out Daniel and Marty.

I couldnít be more pumped for this. God, I hope the cinemas are open by then...

And it really sounds like they are trying to do it justice, slowing the pace down and going big on the detail. I canít think of a better director to do that.

Mind you...I said that about Shane Black and The Predator so what the hell do I know?

Not sure about the powa armour but Oscar Isaac as Leto is giving me a wettie.

Sadly no pics of the Harkonnens yet, I'm curious to see what they do with them. Is Skarsgard going full fatty? Why has Beast Rabban been cast but no Feyd Rautha? Or is Feyd just going to be in part le deux? Not sure how that works.

First there are official photos. Then there's the poster. Then the trailer.

This came perilously close to being made by Peter Berg about ten years ago. Thank fuck that didn't happen and Villeneuve's star was on the ascendent. We'd have fucking Marky Mark as Leto.

Just for shits and shits, my dream cast at the time had Philip Seymour Hoffman as the Baron and *cough* Jared Leto as Feyd. I think I went full boner and had Kurt Russell as Gurney.

I was thinking Vincent D'Onofrio for the Baron, but I guess he probably doesn't want to get typecast as "portly evil man" for the rest of his career.

He'd be my dream casting for the Judge if the Blood Meridian movie ever gets made, though.

Gods please let him do one of the Hainish novels next. Preferably The Dispossessed. That would make me shit my entire wardrobe of joy.

No one is going to be able to search for a thread called D U N E either, so expect a new thread soon.

They're going to have trouble topping the mini series for me, I though they were great, with the possible exception of a couple of casting decisions.

Tbf, no one other than a Bangalore wife salesman would be able to search for a thread called 'Dune', either.

    Well those pics look lovely!

The only question I got coming from them is why the knuckle-guards on their gloves are also on their wrists. Like weird wrist-knuckle guards? I dunno. Anyways yay finally a decent Dune movie probably.

While we're playing dream casting, I would've had Brian Cox play the Baron.
