Hang on wouldn't a woman in a fur coat with no knickers be a good thing?

It's a good game, it just falls off about halfway through after an awesome reveal. It just doesn't manage to maintain the quality you get up to that point.

It's like they got bored halfway and farmed the rest of the game out to be completed by a bunch of rookies.

    Warhead is a lot better.

I'll pick this up, I never played the original as my pc wasn't upto it. I enjoyed 2&3 though.

Good point, I did like Warhead a lot better. I remember it being quite a bit shorter though, is that my memory failing me or was it indeed the case?

@JoeBlade I think it was, but the first one had a lot of padding, Warhead was much more focused.

Like a few people here, I enjoyed 2 and 3 a lot more than the first game. Good for those that enjoyed the original though. I'd hope it's optimised better than the old version, although I wonder if it performing better will take away some of its allure.

Yeah warhead was shorter but had a lot more gunplay.

It was the little things I noticed in the original Crysis and Warhead that made it quite special. Like the suit powers were more than obvious jump higher or run faster. Stuff like crawling faster and punching faster in speed mode or having no weapon sway when aiming down scope in strength mode.

I just restarted the original on PC last year and was quite enjoying it until I got sidetracked by other games. I may not have reached where it goes downhill though...

    Edit - typos...

Hope they include warhead on this remaster. It was effectively an expansion pack/dlc wasn't it?

“This runs well, I could play this”. But I never did.
That's as much as I got. Built my PC 3 years ago and barely passed the first level. When it doesn't have the lure of shiny, pc melting graphics, it seems like a very average game. I need to give it a fair crack to be fair.

I need to give it another go to be fair but.

It was a so-called stand-alone expansion, if memory serves. Set in the same universe, using the same engine but you didn't need to own Crysis to play Warhead.
Could be remembering it wrong though.

Warhead was a standalone game. It also had a few tweaks to the engine to make it run a little better, seem to recall it used LOD a bit more.

I was surprised that they didn't include it with the 360 port, but maybe they were trying to keep the download size smaller. It would be a good idea to include it in the remaster though, seeing as Crysis was a fairly short game and apparently this new version won't even have multiplayer anymore.

Crytek's press release also specifically said "single-player campaigns", emphasis on the plural.

So it seems the release date has been inadvertently leaked by the Microsoft store as July 23rd and a gameplay reveal is due tomorrow.

Next month eh? Hoping its priced reasonably as quite fancy a new (old) FPS. Should probably wait for it to go on sale...I've broken my "only buy digital when it's in a sale" rule afew times during lockdown

Those leaked screens look like the Xbox 360 version.

So they've delayed the game launch based on negative feedback of the leaked trailer. They say it's only a few weeks, which makes me wonder - exactly how much can you improve a game in a few weeks anyway?

The problem with the trailer for me is that it's pretty much exactly how I remember Crysis looking anyway (maybe better character models). I think they should do a trailer where they flick between old and new so you can see the differences (if they're even that apparent)

I think people were expecting a remaster of the original version, the screenshots looked like they had remastered the Xbox 360 version instead.

That's what I thought. However they do have the tank level and vtol level which were cut.

There have been mods for Crysis for years that make it look like a more recent game, I'm surprised they didn't get one of those people on board for it.
