Registered 3 years agoyeah the bow comes in handy for the level but the corridor is too narrow for the flayers. i get bopped. looking into using cloak and ignoring them. -

3-2 can fuck off. most of the level is very easy bit it's long and those bloody black phantom mind flayers are a pain in the arse. not to mention the two flying buggers that appear when you take the lift up to the second chain. it's been a while since i've felt close to hurling a joypad... -

Registered 14 years agoNot always. Tbh I found the AI to be easy too. You can tell if it's a real person as they'll often hide when you enter. -

Oh, I didn't know that. I must have have got lucky.
In other news I do love a boss fight where I can get really annoyed, almost give up and then discover one solution is to cast a spell then go and make a cup of tea. -

Registered 11 years agoTalking of that, I took out the man-eaters last night. That was fine, but the fucking monk. First time was a player using a scraping spear so that was a painful repair after he killed me. So I thought I'd just get it done offline.
Couldn't beat the ai version either. Ffs. I've got a block with this guy now. -

Registered 1 month agoI found a 100% physical shield great for the AI monk. He doesn't hit very hard so you can tank him and get a few hits in. When he summons his Homing Soul Arrow just make a bit of distance as they don't move very fast and are easy to avoid (or a Dark Silver Shipped blocks 100% physical and magic). -

Registered 13 years agoWoo, finished it and onto NG+. Allant took quite a few goes, and I wasn't a big fan of the soulsucker mechanic when I realised what was happening! -

Registered 18 years agoI'm not sure I really see the point of the NG+ thing. I can see trying a new character but I'm not sure what you can do in NG+ that you couldn't do in the original playthrough other than that magic trophy. -

Registered 15 years ago@Scimarad If it's like other Souls games, some bosses and enemies will feel very different in NG+. The different health/damage ratios can force different tactics for fighting them. I've not NG+ed DeS yet, but I believe Maneater in particular is notorious for feeling very different. -

Yeah I can't think where else to take this character really. I'm sure in Dark Souls I felt like I still had directions I wanted to go in in NG+ (though that's nearly a decade ago so I may be wrong). Don't think I'll stick with it for long, but it's quite nice to waltz through 1-1.

Registered 8 years agoJust beat the Maneaters yesterday after a lot of attempts. In the end, just stocked up with a shit ton of arrows and mainly finished them that way whilst dancing round the fire pit (+8 bow, regular arrows). In the interim, I did also do a fair amount of soul farming in 4-2 before returning to the Maneater.
As for the Old Monk, I did get a PVP match up. Felt quite nervous going in as I've not had any PVP play until then. Was up against a ranged player, but I was clearly over levelled compared to them. They kept running away and trying to shoot me from afar. Got hit a couple of times, but it barely left a scratch. About 4-5 hits with my +6 claymore and that was it. Probably the easiest of any boss in the game yet. -

Registered 18 years agoI've just got Allant to go now. 4-2 was a brick wall for a couple of days due to the length of run to get to the boss. Took 3 attempts to down him but dozens and dozens of attempts to reach him in first place until I got the patterns down perfectly. 4-3 was easy and killed the flying bassa first attempt.
4 attempts at Allant so far and not even got 1/4 health off him yet. This may be a brick wall for a while as well!

Registered 13 years ago@LFace Took me a good few goes as well. If you're using melee, stay close ish but not too close, to make sure he doesn't get you with the soul sucker attack (there's a white glow when he's about to do it). When he puts the sword in the floor and the wind starts spinning, get up close and hit him a couple of times, it'll interrupt his move. Most of his other attacks you can block or dodge reasonably easily. Then it's just a matter of patience really. -

Registered 11 years ago5-2 is kicking my arse. It's so dark I keep making stupid - and inevitably fatal - mistakes. Haven't even reached the bloody shortcut yet.
Blight Town is like a stroll through Kew Gardens by comparison. -

Registered 11 years agoFinally sorted 5-2 out. That was harder than I remember. Even harder considering I thought I'd done the shortcut, when I hadn't! -

Registered 8 years agoSo that kinda sucked. Just fought the Penetrator for the first time and was helped by Biorr. Watched a couple of vids and apparently, on a first playthrough, we is a massive help and can almost kill the Penetrator by himself, with just a small amount of assistance. Apparently there is also an achievement for beating the boss with Biorr still alive.
\in my game....Biorr impaled twice and dead before the boss was even down a quarter of the it's health bar and of course, Biorr is now completely out of the game and won't return. Bugger!!
Anyone know if he dropped anything decent (I also missed the loot he dropped before I got killed). -

Registered 8 years ago@retro74 Thanks Retro. Already got the Brushwood armour and the ring of Herculean Strength so presumably I'm not missing out on much that way at least. Just a shame that now I miss the achievement and have a harder fight on my hands. -
You did try and help him out, right? I mean he's tough, but you can't just let him solo the boss.
It should be an easy fight if you both go at it.
