Yeah, I've (obviously) not played it, but I heard it runs at a rock solid 60fps (albeit at 1080p). |

Its still quite a demanding game. My 1080ti can only manage 60fps at 1440p. At 4k it tops out at 40 something. I think it needed something like a 970ti to even run at 1080p on high when it came out.

Registered 7 years agoAs someone who went back to DS3 and Bloodborne after Demon's Souls, I can say that you very quickly get over the difference and they are actually still bloody nice looking games even by todays standards. Dark Souls 1 & 2 have obviously aged more but still have their own aesthetic going on which oddly makes it seem wrong to compare them to the newer games and the Demon's remake. -

Having recently played DS Remaster after finishing Bloodborne on PS4Pro, I was rather shocked at how dated Dark Souls looked. The remaster makes the gameplay even more sublime and I enjoyed every minute of it, but my goodness the place looked shonky.
Yeah, I kind of want to play the Dark Souls remaster, but I know that's going to look terrible after the Demon's remake.
I noticed it first in Undead berg, the wall textures of surrounding buildings (and especially DISTANT buildings) were not meant to be seen so clearly. The higher resolution works against it, and many places look blocky. The lighting isn't quite right also, for example when looking from afar at the gate giant that pulls the chains to open Sens, he stands out oddly compared to his surrounds due to how he is lit (fine in the cutscene and close up of course).
The art direction and world design is top notch; this is just a case in my opinion of seeing further and more clearly than From soft had planned for on PS3. You won't mind of course once you get into the gameplay, just be prepared for a MAJOR visual downgrade coming from Demon's! -

Registered 15 years agoI'm sure I read Sony saying that was really difficult to get them game to run at 60fps without some kind of remaster. They talked about the engine being a problem. -

Might be another job for Bluepoint down the line. -

Are you talking about Bloodborne? There's the mod that makes it run at 60 fps on a modded PS4, isn't there?

Registered 15 years agoFirestorm spell is ridiculously OP and any boss battle is total breeze. It takes well over half a bosses health. I think I'll drop my mage now because this feels like cheating. Might try a dex build. -

It is probably the easiest of the souls games. So a good one to start with.
Some of the bosses are really hard. But the 5 levels can be tackled in any order (after you finish 1-1). So if you are struggling with an area or boss then move onto a different area and come back later when you are stronger / better equipped.
There was a a decent argument for exploring all 5 areas after 1-1 before attempting any of the bosses. (Then after doing that repeat with the next set).
You do gain quite a bit each time you level. So brute forcing an area by over levelling is an option if you are really struggling. And so is summoning help. -

Registered 13 years agoI think that’s good advice about exploring a bit before you fight bosses. Get as many resources as you can in these games of you’re a novice
Upgrade all your weapons as much as possible - preparation is key when you first start playing them -

Registered 13 years agoWell, I feel a little bit like I’ve ruined this game for myself by choosing a magic build. Using the soul ray, with magic at 34 and intelligence at 28 or so. It’s been far too easy, and I’m shit at these (most) games. Beat maneater first attempt. Just used warding, then battered him from afar. I’m still enjoying it, but I kind of wish it was a bit more challenging. Mind you, it’s still perfectly possible that it will start smashing me from now on, I suppose. -

Its all about side stepping him. His/there main attack is a frontal charge, so just make sure you're light enough just to dodge that attack. His one of those that feels overwhelming at first but ..well like most souls bosses, but once you get an idea how to do it, he should go down pretty easily.

Registered 14 years agoI found staying in the middle circle made it less likely I would fall off. Also as I was dodging them I switched to holding my weapon in 2 hands because the shield was not offering me anything. -

Registered 11 years agoThink I've fucked up. 4-1 is now pure black and there's a phantom NPC right at the start who just one-shots me. I've hit him a couple of times and barely made a scratch. -

@Nanocrystal
Yeah that particular red phantom is one of the hardest enemies in the game I recall. You're fucked. Well, unless you raise it above Pure Black by beating a boss. (If memory serves)
