So I'm about 12 hours in and mid-30s power level. But all the monestaries I can now see are in level 90+ regions. I tried one and pretty much got one-shotted by a dude in a church. So does that mean I need to level up much closer to 90 before even bothering with any more monestaries? Seems a shame as I can't upgrade my homestead any more- need the raw materials.
Thatís odd - Iím 14 hours in and am power level 70... Iíve not gone hoovering up side quest or anything, Iíve just been working through the pledges/regions.

The Anglo-Saxon NPCs make me laugh, its like running into the Vicar of Dibley cast sometimes.

Is all the raiding stuff as optional as the big battles in Odyssey?

I'm honestly not sure, you need the resources to grow your settlement but I'm not sure how important that is.

I respect the fact they have clearly tried to make it different from odyssey. I have always wanted assassins creed in Victorian times and Viking times I just wonder what is next in two years for the first proper next gen title. What would people like ?

    World War One
    Ancient Rome
    Feudal Japan
    Aztecs
    Elizabethan England

I think everything points to Feudal Japan, even with or because of GOT success.

I like Elizabethan England, sounds great but maybe a bit close to Unity, albeit by 150+ years.
Maybe Tudor and the Reformation, that would be great. Although I think it highly unlikely that they will do the Uk again, so soon after ACV and WD3
As for WWI we had a look at that during Syndicate and we have the brilliant Saboteur, albeit that is WWII.

Just think how pretty all the cherry blossom would be in Japan. You could assassinate people by leaping from a Shinkansen

Japan seems obvious, but they might be keen to avoid Ghost of Tsushima comparisons. China seems nailed on, I just wonder how much liberty they can have with the setting considering how current China behaves. Could maybe do India too. A remake of 1 would be nice, but just opens doors to remaster 2 onwards and open up the floodgate of these weird Desmond fans.

    @Tuffty
The original may be a good shout, sort of see how far they have come. It would look glorious on the new machines, I'm not sure the newer fans of the series will be happy with the return to a more structured game, with far less toys and gadgets. I loved the first game, apart from the final fight! that was a fecker.

    Me from 13 years ago:

    Good Morrow.
COMPLETED......AT 01:30 this morning .At 23:00 I just completed or at least I thought I was just completing the final Assassination, (no 9) was I wrong ? Bastard hard last hour+ you have to fight wave after wave after wave of solders. I though Ubi could have put more thought into the last quarter of the game and not just throw loads of chaps at you. I counted one fight in the Kingdom, where I laid slain to 37 bastards in a single skirmish!

I must have failed the final couple of "boss" fights so many feckin times.
Overall I think the game was good while not being as great as I hoped or it promised at times. I collected 750+ gamer points (not sure of total, will look when I get home) I didn't unlock killing Combo, how the feck not I don't know, or destroy traders stalls, again not too sure why not I jumped through loads. Might spend a couple more hours in-game, can't be arsed to collect flags. I think it could be COD 4 from Friday evening.

I want an Assassin's Creed in the Mongol Empire. With an emphasis on building up a tribe to go raiding with, and a combat focus on horseback archery.

It would even kinda fit the series lore, because the historical Order of Assassins was destroyed by the Mongols.

Yes but you'd want to do them if you want to upgrade your settlement.

We had a touch of Mongols in their sacking of Masyaf; Revenge for the Assassins killing Genghis Khan. Hulegu Khan also got assassinated for his sacking of Masyaf. Then there was the plot to allow Mongols in to China but Shao Jun prevented that.

I'm enjoying the raids more than I thought I would, each one takes maybe ten minutes? You also get a good bunch of supplies for the first story arc you complete.

A key thing about this game is nothing outstays its welcoome.

Really warming to Eivor as a protagonist as well.

Surprised with the digital foundry head to head but it's mad, if this is what vrr does with tearing, this oled was worth it for that alone. I knew this tech was supposed to be good and I know I mentioned it earlier but the tearing really does look awful from what they've shown but with vrr you just don't see it. It feels somewhat like magic.

Was wondering what all the fuss was about when tearing was mentioned. This looks stunning on my C9 and zero tearing.

    I've the b9 and it's perfect.

Apparently at lower refresh rates there are issues with the b9 and c9 but will see how that pans out.

Playing with headphones on (ps5) shows up how shockingly low quality the sound is. Sounds so tinny and over compressed. Not equipment issues (other games sound great) and plenty of others saying the same - https://www.gamepressure.com/newsroom/gamers-are-irritated-by-audio-setting-in-ac-valhalla/zf284a

@Your-Mother Haven't noticed (PC) - seems fine to me as I have nothing to compare it to - ie compare two bits of sound from the game, one high bitrate and one low.

lvl 202 now. 68 hours so far.

I dont know guys... I woudnt call it a bad game. But is this really a good game?

There are things I really enjoy about it, but enough to invest another 68 hours into it? a lot of this game seems broken, like the stamina bar. So the fighting is just dull and brainless.

the story isnt interesting most of the time, horrible writing and you never get into any NPCs, I cant remember most of their names ever.

I love raiding shit with my boat and my crew. Until I killed about 20 enemies and then realize again how pointless the fighting is.

every single chest is hidden behind a riddle. what there are like 1000 chests overall and I have to solve a riddle every time?

loot and gear are totally uninspiring. no happiness about some cool weapon that drops. it doesent even matter.

the skill tree. really? who had that idea? and why?

on top of it, so many bugs, so many broken moments. horrible.

I love the Wiking setting, totally my thing. Which is the reason I'm playing it. I just question if this would really be considered a good game, if it wasn't within the Wiking sibject that is very popular at the moment.

I know many gamers are loving valhalla. I respect that. I'm just not sure if its loved for being a good game, or if its loved because we want to love it because we waited for 2 years to finally get it and we love Wiking shit.

Same here. I've seen a few posts on Reddit saying the same (also Watch Dogs Legion). Must be a Ubi launch day bug. I say Ubi because Miles upgraded OK for me.
