Awesome right? It does feel like the real innovation of skating stopped years ago and since then it’s all been iterative improvement on the same basic vert and street stuff. Admittedly this guy is still just doing street stuff but it’s such a refreshing take. So joyful as well. |

Registered 6 years agoI’ll admit I’ve not followed it closely over the years but street tricks, as cool as they are, don’t seem to have evolved a lot in the last twenty years. Or at least it’s incredibly rare that I see something I’ve genuinely never seen before and that video had a bunch of stuff that was totally new to me. -

Watched this about a year ago, brilliant.
On that note, I’m a very big a Richie Jackson fan these days. He’s just so creative. The only skater I’ve seen in years to really innovate.

Registered 14 years agoThere has definitely been improvement but it has been iterative. Tricks that were once reserved for games of skate on flatland are now being performed in lines and down rails with ridiculous consistency both standard and switch.
Modern street skaters are practically as good popping off either foot.
But there is tricks which you just didn't see 10 years ago such as 360 double flips. The level of technical flipping into and out of grinds is stupid now 360 flip noseblunt nollie 360 inward heel out? Sure.

Registered 15 years agoIt's certainly ace, but I can only play it in 20 minute slots as the muscles / tendons from thumb to wrist freeze up if play any longer, just me?
Also my 7 and 9 year old who've never shown any interest in skateboarding before absolutely love it, it's 'sick' -

Big fan of Mark Suciu. He would definitely win on combo points.

Registered 17 years agoYeah Daewon is still skating today, he may be the best of all time imo.
I bought Session on the back of playing TH again. Aims to be a realistic sim and although it's early access and a bit janky, it's really good.
The controls are so foreign though, it's a struggle to even pull off a kickflip at first but once you get them it's really rewarding to pull off even the simplest stuff.
They've absolutely nailed the sound, animation and physics. There's no point scoring or anything like that,it's just skating for skating's sake.

Registered 17 years agoJust noticed on Amazon that there's a digital version of this coming this week that includes the words "Series X Enhanced" on it, which is good news. I'm guessing it'll just be maxed out res, frame rate, and maybe push up the detail a bit. One presumes PS5 also.
This is now the the next gen game I'm most excited about. A remaster of a 20+ year old game, that was only really remastered for the PS4 gen. Sounds about right for me.

Registered 12 years agoHaving had time to reflect, it's definitely my GotY so far.
Have had to have a bit of a break after doing the School II Get-There the other week. Was coming dangerously close to burnout after 3 different sessions of 2-3 hours trying the exact same combo. -

Registered 13 years agoThey still do reviews? I thought they spent their time putting up wishlists for stupid games that shpuld never be given a thought.
They should make a game about... Fuck Off -

Registered 17 years agoTried going back to this last night, but I find the challenges really bitty and tough to track. Finding it hard to want to keep up playing, feel like it's in desperate need of new goals or at least the option to reset goals.
Struggling to find the replayability :/ -

Registered 14 years ago@KRadiation one of those wish-list articles can probably be done in an afternoon (or less), while a review of even a short games will mean at least a full day playing it (a lot more for many things) followed by at least a day writing the review (a lot more for many things).
So I don't begrudge them the easier articles, and presumably they've done the traffic maths. But this does seem a big enough game that it would have been worth reviewing. -

Registered 12 years agoJust in case anyone without the Deluxe Edition like me is mulling over the £10 next gen upgrade for this that came out a couple of days ago, I honestly wouldn't bother.
Haptics and triggers are about as weak as you can get, the graphics are a little sharper but nothing game changing and it's taken me 3 separate game save deletions and reuploads to get roughly half of my trophy progress to carry across to the new version and I can't be arsed trying it again.
If you've got the free upgrade then it's fair game but it's not worth spending any money on. -

Registered 14 years agoMost of those issues won't exist if you're upgrading on xbox but yea I don't really see the point it was already a flawless 60. 120 would be nice but probably not worth the 10 quid tbh.

Registered 12 years agoNah, 120 really doesn't make a tremendous difference to me either. It has boosted split screen up to 60fps. The lighting is a touch better but really it just feels like it's been done for the sake of it.
Then again muggins here stumped up the tenner, so I guess it works to a degree. -
I bought it out of 120fps curiosity. Surprised how small of an improvement it is over 60.
It's really weird that it's a paid upgrade. I'm also playing Crash 4 right now which is also published by Activision and its a free upgrade
