Registered 9 years agoYeah... I don't want to get into console wars or anything, but to me that is a lot more interesting and impressive than the PS5 tech demo that came out last night. That was technology, but this is art. -

It looks pretty good but I'll wait for reviews as I'm fully engaged with Animal Crossing for the next few months. -

Registered 14 years agoThis looks like it might just be the thousand year door follow up I've been waiting for. Nice to see it arriving so soon. -

Registered 16 years agoThis looks fantastic, can't wait! It's also a surprise it's coming out so soon. Usually Nintendo announce first party stuff then you wait for years. -

My 2 fave games visually are probably Okami and Wind Waker.
Looks stonking, as long as it has a decent battle system and an entertaining story and characters (like TTYD) then It'll be cracking. -

Registered 9 years ago@Armoured_Bear I'm 20 hours into Okami at the moment and yep, still a stunning game with an incredible art style.
Just realised this is out same day as Ghost of Tsushima...will likely get both! -

Registered 16 years agoAll the Paper Mario games have disappointed me since they changed direction after TYD. This doesn’t look like it’s going back in that direction either which was a much more rounded RPG experience. It still looks fantastic but I reckon it could well be wafer thin. Snarf. -

Registered 7 years agoI was going to be sceptical but the trailer shows a beautiful world.
I havent played a paper Mario, how is it different to the regular platforming variety? I could still see platforming in the trailer. -

Registered 18 years ago@Technoishmatt the one I've played was a straight up JRPG, not a platformer.
It was the thousand year door for the Game Cube. I never got around to playing the sequels, but I've heard they were a bit lighter. -

Registered 9 years agoWhat Tonka says. They are very far removed from a Mario platform games. They are narrative driven, very puzzle orientated, and the combat is a mix of RPG and timed button presses. They work very well. -

Wasn’t expecting this to look that good to be fair. Hope it’s more like TTYD than previous entries -

Registered 18 years agoCould someone write a Quick Summary of how the later Paper Marios differ from TTYD? I'd appreciate it. Or maybe there's a video by some Discerning, Angry, Critical etc Gamer I can watch? (They tend to play PC though, and smell of onion) -

The first two on N64 and GC were RPGs, like proper turned based RPGs and they were wondrous! The Wii version and onwards became exploration/adventure games with little to no rpg elements and reviews have been mixed, to say the least. -

Personally Thousand Year Door didnt wow me much when I played it on Cube. I did finish it though but some of the writing felt a bit off, like trying too hard to be funny.
I do think this looks great regardless.
