Registered 14 years agoThe negative points surrounding the battles seems to be that they are ultimately pointless, not that the battles are bad. -

Sorry, one review has put me off this game so I'm going to watch a play-through let you all know my thoughts.
Generally positive reviews so far. Looking forward to it. -

I'm bloody loving the first 30 minutes. It's all making me smile – particularly the writing. -

Registered 9 years agoSo far, very enjoyable. There was a motion control bit within the first two minutes but to my relief, these can be turned off! Thank fuck. -

Registered 9 years agoHaha yeah they aren't game breaking by any means, just that I personally have no patience for motion controls at all. See also having to shake your controller when your light gets faulty in The Last of Us, takes me out of the game completely and much worse than in this. -

Registered 15 years agoThe humour is great and presentation is spot on. But I’ve only just got to Toad Town and I’m already sighing when I get to battles. I’m not going to find them fun at all when they start getting remotely challenging, I’m just so shit at puzzles like that. -

Registered 9 years agoThe battles I am mostly OK with so far, I definitely think I'll find them more tedious as the game goes on considering as there is no XP, it doesn't seem worth it really but so far, so good.
Just defeated the second boss at the red streamer, so far both of those have been an excellent change of pace. I'm really enjoying the collection part of the game, i.e. discovering the hidden Toads in each area etc, great stuff. -

‘Turn’ based battles with no XP sounds so ridiculous I can’t believe it. If you are going to force people into long protracted battles, there has to be a benefit to going through with them.

Registered 9 years ago@Graxlar_v3 yeah absolutely. You get money from them, but I've been able to buy everything and have well over 10k left over! On the plus side, no grinding so unless you need money, can avoid as much as possible. Does seem like another missed opportunity though. -

Registered 16 years agoBugger. Died for the first time. It's not very forgiving when you screw up the puzzle and then your stomping boots break
Perhaps I should have thrown cash at the Toads… -
So what's the general concensus of folk who've played Origami King? Worth picking up at some point? -
I think its great so far. -

Yep, agree 100% with this. I'm having such a blast that at the moment it could be a personal Game of the Year contender. Think I'm probably approaching the 20 hour mark.
