    I did one of these things a few years back and got up to 70 in a row, then got bored. I do remember thinking it needed more rest days though.

    @Nexus_6 I'm well away from that level of fitness, but good to know. Speaking about form - I don't really know if what I'm doing is correct, but I've seen YT's of people keeping their arms really close to the body while doing push-ups - while I'm having them quite far apart (I guess that's easier).

    I do focus on form in terms of core and legs being straight (imagining doing a plank so to speak), but it's a long way to go for me to get to those numbers of repeats. They're one of the best exercises in my opinion but I can't say that I particularly enjoy doing them.

    The closer in you are the more it works your arms, the wider the more it works your chest. Close in is a lot harder, hence close grip push ups being such a bastard.

    I was writing a response when Decks barged (muscled) in.
    That's the sum of it really - different arm positions for different muscles. The 'standard' position for a press-up is about shoulder width (correct me if I'm wrong) and wider for chest muscles which I have been trying to do to get rid of the man tits.
    You can test this out by doing the one stance until tired, then changing stance and seeing if it's easier again because you're using different muscle groups.

    Push ups tend to enhance your man tits rather than get rid of them. They will be a lot perkier though. You're best off working on your back and shoulders to stretch the tits out a bit. Punching stuff works best. A bag, the wife, whatever you can get your hands on.

    I was about to ask: can I partake in the challenge but replace "press up" with "wank"? And maybe divide the numbers by 10, 100 in one day does seem a bit much...

    Now to figure out what a diamond and decline one would entail.

    Cool, I should try this... some time. I do remember doing the narrow position ages ago now, and it was basterd hard to even do just a handful of repeats, let alone several dozen.
