10 years ago my favourite racer was released. It is still my favourite racing game. Maybe that's why I never forget May 25 while I still can't remember the birthdays of family members. Since Blur has reached double digits (and it has changed my life), I must pay respects publically. I had more to write, but I'll keep it simple. Happy Birthday Blur! https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-blur-tech-interview Edited by ontoff at 10:08:51 25-05-2020 |

Registered 15 years agoBizarre Creations made great games. Real loss. Horizons come closest but nobody has really nailed the balance between serious and fun racing like they did.
The clicks as you rack up kudos in MSR/PGR is the beat use of sound in a game ever. -

Fantastic game. I'm guessing there's no way to play this online any more?

Also, is there any way to buy this digitally now? I had it on the 360 originally but sold it years ago. Can't see it on steam so I'm guessing it got delisted?

Registered 14 years agoI remember most (including me) thinking this wouldn't work. Real world cars with Mariokart style weapons is just weird. Would love a remaster.
Has been said a million times but releasing this and Split Second so close together effectively killed both of these unique arcade racers. -

Registered 14 years agoWhat a game! Many a good evening playing this with EGers. Sorely missed having a remake. I would just take a slightly spruced remaster. -

Registered 18 years agoBizarre did the best racing games, I miss PGR and this. As said, Forza Horizon just isn’t the same. I find it a bit naff with the DJs and Festival vibe.. and Edinburgh was so much better in PGR2 ..
How did Blur change your life?

Registered 15 years agoThe maddest thing about Bizarre Creations was that they made the greatest classic arcade style game in 30 odd years, possibly ever, and it was an Easter Egg. -

Registered 3 years agoPGR4 is one of my most loved games and it's criminal there won't be another one. I'd settle for 4 getting some backwards love but that won't happen, either.
Fuck you, Phil.

I read somewhere that due to licensing issues (the licensed cars) Blur would never become backward-comnpatible on Xbox One and generally never be re-released (offered for sale, new) again. I'd love to know every last detail of these licensing contracts. I'd love to know how much they paid for the licensed cars, the time period, etc. The game doesn't make any particular brand of car look bad either, which must have been a fine balancing act.
@Red_Bool
I loved that ad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPqRue51GZ8 I like both games (Mario Kart and Blur), but I thought that ad was quite funny and clever. C'mon, Brock Lee is greatThough I sort-of think it doesn't really sell Blur's benefits enough, maybe. But it gets attention and is memorable to me. That's half the battle.
@HarryB
Blur changed my life by just being an awesome game that I have many good memories with. It also made me think about no matter how of good a developer or comnpany you are, you are at the total mercy of ruthless publishers that can't see past their noses & don't see the long-term potential for a brilliant game. It was intended to be a gaming franchise spanning several releases. They bought the team (built up over many years) and then spat them out.
@You-can-call-me-kal
Geometry Wars. The best easter egg I've ever seen for sure.

Damn straight. I received Split Second and Red Dead Redemption on the same day, and RDR didn't get a look in. I still occasionally fire up SS.

Registered 12 years agoBlur, Split/Second and ModNation Racers released in a period of 8 days, which did none of them any good, I think. I had all 3: finished Split/Second only a few years ago, never finished Blur but played most of it, didn't like ModNation Racers. I can't get on with kart racers for some reason. -
@Dave_McCoy If there aren't legal boundaries, this should be a prime candidate for some kind of reissue. I agree with another poster, a far better salespitch could be made to get more bums on seats. It's a pity GoG couldn't look in to getting Blur back into availability again.
