Just make sure you get a tempered glass one, not a horrible sticky plastic thing. IMO the glass ones actually make the screen look better and you’d never know there’s a protector on.

Worth getting a pack of three if you can as they do crack relatively easily. They’re not expensive.

In my opinion must have exclusives are:
    Mario Odyssey
    Mario Kart 8
    Zelda BotW

    Must play 3rd Party:
    Edith Finch
    Steamworld Heist
    Into the Breach
    Rayman Legends
    Hollow Knight
    Dead Cells

    Great exclusives:
    Smash Bros Ultimate
    Luigi’s Mansion 3
    Donkey Kong: TF
    Zelda: Link’s Awakening
    Xenoblade Chronicles

    Great 3rd Party
    XCom 2
    Divinity 2
    Witcher 3
    Valkyria Chronicles 4
    Picross S-S4
    Monster Boy
    Stardew Valley
    Gato Roboto

    Good Exclusives
    Mario & Rabbids
    Splatoon 2
    Ring Fit

    Good 3rd Party
    Two Point Hospital
    War Groove
    Disgaea 5

    Ok Exclusives
    Astral Chain
    Yoshi Crafted World
    Snipper Clips
    New Super Mario Bros U

    Ok 3rd Party
    Untitled Goose

Note some “exclusives” were played on Wii U (and Wii). And some of the 3rd party games were also played on other systems, so check Switch port performance.

What are you using for sound? The Gulkit adapter is a must-have if you've got Bluetooth headphones/buds. The Switch struggles to drive my HD 650s, so it can be worth picking up a USB soundcard if you're using wired headphones (Creative G3 or G6 works well with it).
