VR Recommendations?

So my Oculus Rift S is being delivered tomorrow. (Have been thinking of getting a VR headset for absolutely ages, then finally decided to do it right when they were unavailable due to Covid, eventually found one on Ebay).

I already have Elite: Dangerous, Project Cars 2 and Dirt Rally in my Steam Library, all of which are VR compatible (also Subnautica, but I might actually shit myself to death if I played that in VR). I have my eye on Half Life: Alyx (well, obvs), Superhot and maybe Beat Saber as new-platform purchases. Are there any other must-haves?

I was considering dipping my toe into the VR puddle too, but thought HL:Alyx was only on Valve's Index?

Nope. According to Steam it supports the Index, the Rift, the Vive and Windows Mixed Reality.

HL:Alyx is on the Rift. I can say that with confidence having just finished on the original Rift. ;-) All good and worthy investment. So many games to choose from it's head spinning ;-). I loved Skyrim VR but then I loved the original. Asguards Wrath aint too shabby either - but I haven't finished that. Next will be Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners...looks very good. If you can get it cheap Budget Cuts was a great title I finished recently. Simple mechanic but great fun if you like sneaky sneaky titles.

Ah, that makes my decisions a little more open! But is the experience better with Index? Anything specifically Index related?

I have a below-min-spec PC for Alyx, the Rift was janky as fuck, the original Vive was smooth as silk. My brother says the Index is a lovely step up from both but it doesn't seem to be essential.

Thanks for this! Have picked up Batman VR (maybe it's just a tech demo but at that price I don't care) and also Arizona Sunshine for 7 and Superhot for 11. I have destroyed all the good work I did on the PWYGGWYP challenge last year...

Got Robo Recall. Certainly fun, though I was finding it difficult to reload consistently.

Lone Echo looks fab, but expensive.

I can't fault that viveport service for your first few weeks and maybe months of owning vr, has apps like The Blu that cost money but worth checking out and try a few different games.
