I imagine it'll be somewhere in between. Certainly sounds a bit deeper than stuff like Rogue Squadron anyway.

I selfishly hope this is more sim than arcade. If itís just Rogue Squadron with VR and shinies then sure, itíll be a nice experience, but something closer to X-Wing/TIE Fighter will see the jism fly.
    Highly risky in vr.

I'm sorry but if you don't know that A-Wings and TIE Interceptors are more manoeuvrable than a standard TIE fighter then what have you even been doing with your life.

I called the speeder bikes ďthe bike things in the forestĒ.
Personally I canít wait to get in the cockpit of an x-wing and yell ENGAGE.

The only advantage would be that the TIEs look and sound way cooler!

Never been a huge fan of the x wing or standard TIE designs. I would have to say I like the Naboo Starfighter best. Looks fantastic and yet functional.

Hopefully with Hera in the game other Rebel characters will be too.

I think the prequel series had the better vehicles.

    I'm guessing you also:

    - Think Godfather Part 3 was the best of the trilogy.
    - Think the AvP movies were way better than Alien and Aliens.
    - Think the Terminator franchise only really got going properly with the third film.
    - Watch Mrs. Brown's Boys of your own free will.

Aren't the Tie fighters kind of stupid? I mean even in the movies you never think anyone is in serious danger because some Tie fighters show up. They end up flying into things quite a lot too for being so manoeuvrable.

@Fake_Blood Yeah, but the way the old X-Wing/TIE Fighter games played this out was pretty neat. The TIE Fighters were basically police craft for keeping helpless populations in line. Their sole advantage was being cheap to produce, which was handy for a big Empire with a lot of ground to cover.

They were also awful when put up against an actual military opponent like the X-Wing, hence all the frantic R&D in the old games that led to the TIE Advanced, TIE Defender and so on.

Never understood why TIE fighters are designed to land on their wings, risking damage and without so much as a set of castor wheels to move them while on the ground.

Amazing, I never considered the empire had budgetary constraints. Seems a bit silly now we know the emperor can just make thousands of star destroyers appear out the dirt.

@Fake_Blood Star Wars used to at least care about making sense in the early days of the old expanded universe. Admittedly, that was a pretty short window...

I still think Picard would have found a way for the empire and the rebels to peacefully coexist if they could just set aside their differences and work it all out through dialogue and a lot of patience and mutual respect.

What about those bombs in the prequels that went BWAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMFFFFFF and inexplicably had a flat shockwave. In space.

I think the point is that TIEs are far easier to mass produce, so even if the Rebel crafts are better, the Empire could easily win through sheer numbers.

But in a 5v5 game, there's no point in playing with no shields and no torpedoes. I actually thought this was a problem in the old games too, hence why I always picked up something like the TIE Advanced, at least the playing field was level.

But how many x-wings do the rebels realistically possess at one single point, like 30 maybe? I donít see how the cost of mass producing Tie fighters even enters into it. Itís like they just needed some easy targets for the x-wings to shoot or something.

Youíll have missions so youíll need a balance of different kinds of ships.

It would be great plying this in VR in a heated battle and then have a fookiní massive Star Destroyer just hyperspace in.
