Instant buy for me, despite the lack of improvements, omission of SMG2, etc. Bottom line is that some of my fave games ever are FINALLY available on a modern console in HD. Sold.

Oof, £50 feels like a lot, especially as physical copies are meant to be in limited supply.
You're new to Nintendo, I see.
I'm not sure why I was so surprised!

I've gone for a physical copy in the end. I don't mind paying a lot up front if I can get most of it back from selling it on again.

Is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury a physical copy. It's not got the digital download next to it but don't they normally have the covers with the Switch logo on them?

Honestly, I'm a lot more excited about this than any Series X or PS5 stuff. For today at least :-)

Super Mario 3D World could be a blast online, very much looking forward to that.
    Hopefully Bowser's Fury is substantial.

Emily Rogers said "3D World is probably the most ambitious Wii U port that Nintendo has done. I really dig the new content."

I never player all of SM64 so I'd have really loved a remake, probably cba with all the old ugliness.

That's where I'm at as well. I don't mind how barebones of a release it is. It's been ages since I've replayed 64, which is one of my favourites. I loved Galaxy as well, so it'll be nice to replay that in HD. And I never got around to Sunshine, so it'll be nice to finally give it a go.

I've only played around an hour of Galaxy, but bounced off it due to the motion controls. Do Sunshine and 64 hold up well?

Can galaxy be played without motion control? Thinking of the switch lite

I am in with 3D All Stars and ordered the Mario and Luigi versions of the AR Mario Kart game. Looking forward to some local co-op fun with that. It would be nice if you could set up tracks and play online, but that is probably too hard to pull off.

The lack of motion controls on SMG is the main selling point for me. Already one of my all time faves, but it would have been even better without the stupid waggle for basic moves.

Just watched the trailer on my Switch, and despite my criticisms, I think I may still have to get it. Sunshine and in particular Galaxy look absolutely glorious in HD on the Switch screen, and Mario 64's style is timeless imo.

The biggest issue with both games might be the camera. Gameplay-wise, both still hold up really well with tight controls and good level design, 64 in particular. I do wonder if they'll smooth out some of Sunshine's rougher edges a bit, but unfortunately I doubt they will.

That Mario Galaxy song still gets me, I have to admit.

Pity the Mario 64 version isn't a remaster, but oh well. They always had my money anyway.

Who else is going to be building a spectator stand for their Amiibo’s for Mario Kart?

64 is in HD now with updated textures for the HUD stuff though, so it still counts as a remaster.

I wonder if SM64 will include the extra content that was added to the DS version?

Just pre-ordered a copy of 3D All Stars on Shopto and it went smoothly enough. I guess the initial rush has died down.

I'm umming and ahhing about this All Stars package.
I really want to play Mario Galaxy - have wanted to play it for years. The other two I'm not that excited by. I can see myself firing up 64 and playing an hour, and then the old design decisions driving me mad. Never played Sunshine.

There’s something weirdly anachronistic about it. Think I’d rather they did reissues of the proper original ones (but maybe with USB charging).
  • Deleted user 4 September 2020 11:39:58
The Game and Watch doesn't include a charger so it must be via usb.

Yeah, just the USB-C cable included.

I’m saying I’d like original Game and Watch but with USB. I know this is USB.

€60 is pretty steep but the physical edition should have good resale value unless Nintendo makes like 20m copies.

I'm interested to see how Galaxy fares in portable mode - I'm assuming the waggle controls will be stripped out. Might actually make it better although there are parts of the game where I'm not sure how it will work without some kind of motion input. Like where Mario balances on top of the ball and you roll him about.

I think for the money I'd rather get a Playdate than one (well, one and a half) of these Game & Watches.

It's no different to the motion control stuff that was in BotW and Mario Odyssey, so should easily be replicated with gyro control I think.

FWIW, I found Sunshine to be a hugely satisfying game when I played it back on release. The hub world is fun and full of secrets. Most of the levels are big and involve inventive mechanics. The challenge levels are some of the purest, most challenging 3D Mario I've ever played. In general I found it to be way more engrossing than Odyssey, and I'm really looking forward to revisiting it.

Sunshine was 80% brilliant and 20% controller smashing rage for me. Mostly down to some awful camera swings in vital places.
