This deserves it's own thread. I'm looking forward to playing the best 3D Mario game again. Super Mario Sunshine.

I cancelled my order as I'm not fussed about playing it right away.

Finished every other Mario game and have tried Sunshine twice before and just really disliked it so perhaps 3rd time is the charm ?

The setting and gimmick are nice, it just doesnt play very well.

I mean 'very well' for a mario game. Its still decent, just right at the bottom of a spectacularly good pile.

I know a couple of you irl. One thinks Galaxy is one of the worst of them.

I don't get why people always distinguish between 2D Mario and 3D Mario. It's like you guys don't want to admit that Mario 64 is better than any of the NES and SNES games.

It really isn't though. World and 3 have aged much better than 64. 64 always feels rough after modern 3d games.

I kinda think that 3D World is best of all of them.

    Come at me.

Sorry, the undeniable truth is that 3D Land was much better than 3D World.

In terms of originality, for sure. In terms of polish and maturity of concepts, I think World is better.
Same thing with galaxy to Galaxy 2.
I also like that the 3D Land/World game basically take the pure 2D level design concepts and covert them to 3D.

They’re all good though. I had a blast with Odyssey 2 years back.

I think 3D Land was better than 3D World in general, not just as a proof of concept. World was just a slog to get through. The smaller levels in 3D Land were much more preferable.

I think I've got most of the Mario games on the Switch. Still not played them. Yers, I know. Nintendo have dispatched and I should get this on Friday. May as well start here! Won't do 64 as I played that to death but will give the other two a go.

I enjoyed 3D Land as a cut down version for portable play but 3D World was miles better for me. Brimming with great ideas and never found it a slog. I think I do prefer it to the Galaxies overall.

Yeah I found the series of emails I got from ShopTo a bit confusing. The last one I got stated

"Congratulations, we just packed your item(s) and everything is ready to be dispatched to you soon. Our dispatch of orders is on every working day up until 5.20pm"

but I've received no further confirmation email that the item was actually dispatched. I just assumed it was, then when I tracked it today it was in Swindon.

Can't complain though, £43 and free tracked delivery!

I really should stop using simplygames for Nintendo releases. They only ever ship them the day before release.

I thought when they announced this there would at least be some graphical improvements such as redrawn environmental textures, it looks like the absolute minimum has been done with them only sharpening things up and minor improvements like refreshed fonts.

I played emulated versions of Mario 64 that had more improvements 15 years ago.

Yes the EG review was pretty scathing in that respect. Minimal effort all round. Bit of a shame.

While it's cheap / lazy I don't think they were going for remasters. That's a different approach altogether. I prefer to play the games as close to the original release as possible. The disappointing thing for me is the lack of bonus content - I don't mind at all that the games are emulated / hardly changed.

A 64 remaster might be cool but unless everything is updated I'd rather they left it largely alone. Otherwise it could be a freakish half retro half modern monster.
