Fair point. I'm still looking forward to my copy arriving today and you know what, it's almost exactly what I expected it to be, and I'm sure I'll enjoy playing through all the games.

I just think there's a lot of people who thought the 3 games would be remakes, like the original All Stars, but in that scenario Nintendo would likely be charging £50 PER GAME.

All the navel gazing about this has me perplexed. We had video footage two weeks ago to show us what we were getting, but everyone's only becoming pissed off a few days before release because it just confirms what was previously shown - like SM64 still in 4:3 with little/no graphical improvement.

I honestly don't remember people being so annoyed by the Wii 25th anniversary disc and that was literally just the virtual console release of SM All Stars stuck on a Wii disc, whereas this collection has one game that's previously been unavailable as a VC download.

I missed Galaxy after binning the Wii off for a PS3 back in the day. Just played the first proper level after the tutorial ones and oh my, it's JUST SO JOYFUL! I know you're not allowed to love Nintendo these days without getting labelled an apologist fanboy, but nobody does it quite like they do.
If youíve never played it Iíd say Galaxy is worth the price of admission on its own for me.

Best Mario by a stretch in my mind, but thatís down to it hitting my life at the right time. A lot of purists argue Galaxy 2 was, but it never had the initial wow factor.

I also preferred that it was a cleaner design. I gave up with Oddysey - it was ok while it lasted but then it just became confusing and annoying to try and finish it.

I felt like Galaxy was pure that like that - the last few stars were a pain in the hoop in terms of difficulty but you always knew what you were doing.

Anyway Galaxy 2 and 3D world/land were also dreamy so thereís a lot of goodness to come.

Galaxy is indeed an absolute joy. Between that and Endless Ocean I had a new found appreciation for just how special music/audio could be and how it could elevate an already great game.

I can't wait to play through it with my 6 year old over the next few weeks.

Nintendo to do a half arsed job and promote it as the second coming.

What I hoped for was a bit more effort from them so Iíd want to buy it. I might in a sale but £50 is taking the piss for zero effort.

People want to buy it and they love it as is then thatís great.

Whats not to love bar a few niggles with polish and the price ?

2 of the top 4 platformers of all time on a portable console and if you dont have a handy Wii, N64 or gamecube hanging about then the only way to play (easily) on your HDTV.

Nice, thanks. I had £15 credit on Currys so I'll give this a go for £25.

How else would you expect Nintendo to promote it? Yeah...itís just about average and bound to disappoint? They are going to hype this up to fuck and making it a timed edition is only going to help them.

Quite happy to pay 50 quid for a standalone HD remaster of Galaxy 1&2

I mean even the most minor stuff like Invert Y axis and stuff would be something FFS.

It's a first party Switch title, buy it for £40 from Currys, play through all 3 games and you could sell it for £39 in a few months.

You'd probably even make a profit if you held onto it until this time next year.

Yeah, 64 seems tough if you don't have the nostalgia of playing it on the N64.

Still enjoying Galaxy, but it is a bit fiddly in handheld.

The camera in 64 was always bad. Any other company would have used the chance to make it better.

I do remember a lot of complaints - especially in Europe, since we got the 50hz PAL versions iirc. It still sold a lot, but there were definitely a lot of people complaining that it was a missed chance for Nintendo and they did the bare minimum.

I think my main problem is being a strict Y invert, but still, some of the Fludd controls in combination with the camera are super clunky. It is manageable but coming off the back of extremely fluid smooth recent Mario games, it feels really wrong.

I struggle playing older games if they have these kinds of niggles. I still appreciate the game itself, and I will persist, but Iím not sure Iíll have the patience to get all the stars.

Weirdly, playing this collection this morning has given me a hankering for some 2D Mario.

I've barely played 64 on an actual N64. I really got into it with the DS version, so even going to the N64 version after that feels a bit off. Not bad, but the DS version started with a different character (Yoshi maybe?) that felt a lot more forgiving.

This is a company that wouldnt let you remap motion controls in a game where 90% of the time you were playing handheld, a format where its usually not convenient to flail around

"I used the motion controls just fine when I was on the train, I cant see what the problem is"

@DFawkes yeah, you started 64DS with Yoshi. Since he can glide, some levels were definitely easier.

I think it would have been interesting if they had offered the DS version, since it's superior in just about every way (except for texture filtering but that could be added on top). Unfortunately, the digital controls weren't all that great, and I can't see Nintendo going the extra mile adapting the touchscreen movements to the analog stick.
