In case anyone missed it, Persona 2: Innocent Sin is being remade for PSP, coming in Winter (this one, so anytime between December and February?).

    Japan only of course...

    - Coming this Winter
    - Supports Media Install
    - Soundtrack CD pre-order bonus

    - It's a "remake" like Persona 1 with balance and control improvements while based on the original game
    - The gameplay systems will be based on Eternal Punishment's refinements instead of just the original Innocent Sin
    - Soejima will be doing brand new full body illustrations for the characters, while the art staff will implement new portraits and cut-ins based on his supervision

    - When you move around you'll see status details and a minimap now, and there will be various UI improvements, etc
    - In battles you'll see the affinity of your demons, as well as character turn orders

    - Battle balance and time constrained events will be retuned to make it more user friendly
    - Difficulty can be changed on the fly in the menu
    - Voices will all be remastered, but not re-recorded

    - Brand new opening anime FMV by Satelight
    - The original opening FMV is also included
    - Arranged and Original BGM can be selected in the config menu

Which is also indirect confirmation that Persona 2: Eternal Punishment will get the same treatment next.

It wouldn't make much sense having one rereleased without it's partner episode also coming.

Apparently they wanted to release both on the same UMD but err it wouldn't fit :p

Sense didn't stop them from releasing only Eternal Punishment back then. Anyway, that's excellent news (provided they bring it to the west, that is).

Western releases are another matter, historically publishers bringing games to the US had the additional hurdle of SCEA certification and their anti-2D games policy to contend with.

That's why we never got the original PS1 Devil Summoner for instance.

Wow, that's a depressingly dull list. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for that Level 5 thing, possibly Disgaea 4 and Ar Tonelico 3 but nothing else looks particularly interesting.

    It could definitely be better.

If anybody wanted to do a handheld roundup that would spice things up, I'm really not qualified on account of a total lack of knowledge and interest. Valkyria Chronicles III looks very interesting indeed for instance.

Hyperdimension Neptunia is the one about consoles fighting right? That might be good.

Thanks Cappy and HiddenAway, I'm glad to see that someone's still keeping track of all those JRPGs. Although I have to agree that the list is looking pretty anaemic compared to last generation. Ah well, at least I have another Ar Tonelico and Zettai Zetsumei Toshi to look forward to.
