Is going to be a card-based battler thingybob.

Which means I've just lost all interest in the title :(

Hmmm looks odd. Bit silly calling the thread "Prince of Persia DS" as, well, it's not really, is it?

File that under: "lest ripp off MGS ACID". Is that going to be a new trend? If you make a new game in the franchise for a portable format it must be a card game!

I'd really prefer a port of the original side-scrolling game with the odd touch-screen mini-game/puzzle thrown in than this.

It's just a bit ridiculous taking a game that's famed for it's free-flowing action and turning into a tedious card game affair.

Oh well, I suppose it saves me 25 quid.

    Looks okay.

Now that they make a game specifically with the DS in mind, WE WANT THE REGULAR GAMES WITH THROWAWAY TOUCHSCREEN/2SCREEN USE BACK. Cry cry.

I've got nothing against the game design per se (well, except that it bores the pants off me) it's just shackling the PoP name to it when it's not in the least bit like ALL THE OTHER PoP GAMES EVER.

Ideally what I want is a fully 3D PoP in the vien of SoT that at least uses some of the DS features (like casting spells by speaking them out loud for instance). If they can't do that then a rehash with touch screen functions would suffice. But to call this PoP is like creating HALF LIFE 2: POKER where you can play as Gordon Freeman as he gambles his way through an alien infested landscape.

Strangely, I want good games from a series with a lot of potential on this format, actually.

    Cry cry.

    Here.

I seriously don't think I'm going to like this game and it will probably suck, but I think that alone is okay, and it doesn't have anything to do with my previous posts. What I'm saying is; the basis for disapproval displayed in this thread, as opposed to what you know, is fucking retarded. That is all.

So a bit like MGA then?

As I've actually read the article I'd refute claims of retardedness but then again we're all a bit spongy-headed being gamers and all.

What we know (all direct quotes from the article):
    a) "Instead of offering up the familiar action/adventure experience on the Nintendo DS, Ubisoft Montreal is instead building a card battle-based design..."

    b) "Within Battles of Prince of Persia, players will command units and troops within a familiar "Tactics" interface, as well as control fights via a card battle system utilizing rules created specifically for this design."

All of which means, from the little we know, it ain't a PoP game as the series has come to represent is it? It's a card-based battle game with the characters from the series.

The game may very well be brilliant and I'm not suggesting it's not going to be. It's just if you love PoP this is kinda the antithesis of it and so is disappointing in that very important regard.

Believe me, as fantastic as Metal Gear Acid is - I don't want to see this done to every single title.

Especially not an out and out action game like POP.

    Battles of Prince of Persia?

There're way too many 'of's in that title.

What's fucking retarded is ruining PoP by making it into a card game.

Well it wouldn't work as POPSOT.

DS can't handle it. No it's not a flame post, the DS would not be able to do a proper 3D actioner on the scape of POP, FACT.

I'm thinking original style 2D Prince of Persia. It seems so obvious. Let's say you have the top screen for most of your platforming and the bottoms screen can be used as a screen extension or for stylus moments where you need to work out some door mechanism or arcane magical hex display thing or something.

Instead they bring you... a card game! Sounds fun to me.

    Nah - I like some of Ubi's stuff :D

They should never have messed with PoP's formula. They got it perfect with Sands of Time :/

Ironic how POP 3D (the post-Tomb Raider abortion) always gets completely forgotten about doesn't it, let alone the original 2 Prince of Persia games by Broderbund...

    Annoying, is what it is.

I still just think of Tomb Raider as a Prince of Persia wannabe.

Pity PoP 3D was shite, I'd been looking forward to that for ages :(
