I've just unlocked 3* quests after doing the required urgent one. Having a lot of fun, the enhanced mobility makes it feel like a very different game at times. Entirely bow for now - I always doubted how effective a bow would be in single player but it seems to be working well for the time being! Most fun since 4U! Edited by Murbs at 07:33:21 29-03-2021 |

Registered 8 years agoSpent all weekend playing this and taking my time rather than rushing to the end.
I'm changing weapon much more frequently just to try them out. Went from SnS, hammer, insect glaive and I'm now on switch axe. -

Registered 20 years agoI am playing Longsword solo and Hunting Horn in mp.
Never really 'got' LS in MHW, but I suspect that's simply because I only used it in about 2 hunts! Getting the hang of the Spirit Slash thing with ZR..
And HH is the ideal buff/support role weapon, which is a role I am happy to play on a hunt. Focussing on health recovery and Attack Up. -

Registered 10 years agoI’ve been playing Longsword so far, it’s really satisfying when you pull off the Spirit Slash!
Haven’t jumped into any MP stuff yet, but this game feels more accessible than Gen U was so will jump in at some point. -

Registered 15 years agoPlayed about 7 hrs and it seems like everyone is just tearing through this game. I know the appeal is to skip all low rank grinding entirely and focus on high rank but even so! I guess I'm spending a lot of time on each mission just exploring the map. Such a weird feeling to go up to a wall and realise you're no longer blocked by it. Biggest revelation for me has been seeing a Kulu Ya Ku climbing up a wall that's normally impossible to traverse in World and realise 'Oh yeah I CAN climb it now'.
Online seems weird, I joined multiple random lobbies and appeared to be successful but I couldn't find the host or other players anywhere in the village. Is there something I am missing, or is there just an option to join someone mid quest like an SOS Request in World? -

Try scrolling through the actions bar (L/R on d-pad) to get to Quest List and you might be able to join from there. There was something about it on the Arrekx video I shared. -

Yeah, I use it a lot. It differs from World in that with that game, you could select which monster you wanted to fight, and it would offer you choices. Rise lets you pick the specific mission you want to do, and it puts you straight into a live mission, so you can't avoid being in a room full of long-sword players who just want to knock you off your feet.

Registered 7 years agoCan't say I'm much of a fan of rampages. Being knocked about like a pinball from way outside a hitbox while trying to set up artillery gets pretty old pretty fast -
Gone from long sword to duel blades... oh man they are a lot of fun but I think the skill ceiling is going to be high with them -

I don't take the switch-axe on mp hunts though as it staggers everyone all the time and flinch seems missing so far. -

Registered 17 years agoI've created a couple of handsets but haven't used them yet.
Was the change to no separate gunner / blademaster armours made in World? -

Registered 8 years agoYeah they got rid of that in World.
From memory World still had two versions of each set with slightly different stats; like more slots but less perks. -

Registered 20 years agoYup, alpha and beta set. Alpha had more perks and fewer slots..
Received wisdom was to go for beta sets for greater flexibility. -

Registered 20 years agoDropping gunner armour was a MASSIVE improvement in MHW. It opened up the bowgun for me because I didn't have to faff.
Although, one might argue that the benefit wasn't so great, as I still created dedicated armour sets for lbg use. -
Oh man, I love the duel blades so much -
