The Mass Effect trilogy remaster is apparently called Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. VentureBeat claims that it was supposed to be out this autumn, but got pushed back to early 2021. So an announcement on N7 day (7 November) would fit. EA/BioWare probably planned on releasing it on that day. |

Registered 4 years agoI Love me trilogy but I doubt I'll get this. There are soooooo many new games to play it just seems a bit of a waste to be going back to three games I've played several times on the 360. -

Registered 10 years ago@Decks Absolutely. Even the name is half-arsed.
I'm calling it "The N7master" from now on.

Registered 12 years agoTo my mind it's probably best left in the past, this. I can picture it being clunky as fuck to play these days, especially the first one. -

Registered 8 years agoI read this was going to be equivalent to a resolution boost but they are trying to change the original game as it's so far behind the other 2 games gameplay wise. -

Registered 1 year agoI played through #3 a year or so ago and it's still perfectly playable, but 1?... That felt clunky as fuck even at launch. -

Registered 17 years agoI will end up chucking money at them for whatever half-arsed effort they dump out. I love me some Mass Effect.
Played through the first on BC not that long ago and it still holds up alright, if a bit clunky. 2&3 are fine. -

Registered 8 years agoSigh. The combat of the first is the best of the series. The best.
As indeed is the story.
Let's just leave it at that. -

Registered 3 years agoYeah, I love all three but the first is still my fave. Just 4K it and improve the framerate and I'm in. -

Registered 13 years agoI played the first not too long ago and it's about average gameplay wise. The jankiness hasn't really got worse, but the real annoying but is the cheap deaths and identical maps. -

Registered 5 years agoThe combat of the first is good because stats actually matter and it's closer to a real-time RPG (whereas the second and third were effectively just straight up shooters). The controls I remember being particularly abysmal though, the characters felt too heavy and the weapons felt too light. -

I agree about the combat. It actually felt like an RPG.
If you prefer the sequels you don't want Mass Effect. You basically want Gears of War with dialogue choices. -

Registered 12 years agoThe first is definitely my favourite, but I remember replaying it about 5 or 6 years ago and from a technical standpoint it was total arse. -

According to the above article, ME3's multiplayer won't be remastered. Which makes me sad. EA are a bunch of big stupid jellyfish(es).

Tying in MP performance into the outcome of the final fight of the trilogy was an incredibly stupid decision.
Which it should have been all along anyway.
The MP by itself however was great fun. I played 400 hours of it.
