Registered 18 years agoI bought my gf a mac mini recently, she loves it. With a gig of ram in it's even comfortable with the heavy duty photoshop work she throws at it. -

Registered 18 years agoWe bought mouse's parents one and they love it. Took to it well considering they'd never used a mac before either, so yes, would recommend to a noob! If you're near an apple store just head for there sometime and play on one. -

Don't you mean iBook Razz? iBooks are great for simple browsing, mail & word processing but the display only goes up to 1024x768 so it's not too well suited for design work. -

I been thinking about doing that for my parent's machine. Is it particular scary, or does it go quite easily? -

Registered 18 years agoIt's a little nerve wracking, it's hard to tell how much force to use as the aluminium sides aren't particularly strong. I downloaded a video of someone performing the operation and copied that carefully, unlocking the base on one side is the hardest part then it comes apart easily. -
As a non Mac user, I read that as a Mini equipped with a Mac. I had already pictured a screen built into the dash - all in Mac style pastels.
Maybe with just one button for the radio, too.
Weirdo -

well for casual personal use anyway. The OS is backwards in parts IMO. -

Registered 18 years agoabsolutely nothing razzle, but you aint gonna get one for a mere £200 more than a mini. pbs start at just over a grand. the ibook is the one that comes in at the price range you're talking about. -

Registered 18 years agoAccording to ThinkSecret, there's an unanounced Mini upgrade coming out. It looks like the 1.42 Ghz will now be 1.5Ghz, the Video Ram will be doubled (to 64Mb, although it is still a 9200), the drive improved to a 8x DVD RW and an upgrade to the Bluetooth.
Please stop me from buying one.... -

Honestly, I don't know if you've been having a bad week or what but just about every post of yours I've read has either been a troll, or just general opinionated crap. -

Sources have informed Think Secret that Mac mini box labels will continue to list the older specifications with no indication of whether the newer or older systems are contained within. The motivation behind this is to help clear current inventory without lowering prices. Essentially, customers are promised that the Mac mini they purchase will have specifications "at least" equal to the label, but that their system may exceed those. Customers who purchase a new Mac mini to find they ended up with the older configuration will not be able to return the system in the hopes of getting the newer configuration without paying a restocking fee.
Arseholes!

I use one as my main machine. I have no complaints at all.
