... just perfect for popping the DS into when I pop to the john (which I seem to be doing more of as a consequence!).

Seems to me Nintendo could be doing so much more with this super bit of kit (Lost in Blue looks fantastic and seems to really take advantage of the features). However, we're still short of a decent sized game library and with the imminent arrival of Sony's monster I'm a little worried the DS will take a beating it won't be able to recover from.

On a lighter note, what next: Another Code, Kirby or wait another couple of weeks for Advance Wars DS?

Kirby, been playing it last couple of days and it's genius. Or get Meteos, you won't be able to put that down. Or wait for Advance Wars, it looks great. Damn it I love my DS.

Got Meteos on the strength of the Forum's response to it - it is fantastic, just starting to nail the 2 min TT and 100 Meteo trials.

Tis why I thought I'd trust you guys to pick my next game for me! ;)

WTF? How barmy is that? Dead catchy too. Still may have to be Kirby though...

Kirby is great fun. Nintendogs is next on my list, and perhaps Advance Wars as well. August through November, more massively-anticipated games are coming out (in the US, anyway). Nintendogs, Metroid, Mario Kart (YES!), Lost in Blue, Castlevania, Viewtiful Joe (?), and I think Tony Hawk, as well.

I got Ouendan yesterday and can confirm it's absolutely bonkers and absolutely great fun. It's a rhythm game, from, I think, the makers of Gitaroo Man.

Most fun I've had with my DS so far, which is saying something given that I loved Kirby, Another Code, Meteos, Band Brothers, Yoshi...

    What's the language barrier like?

Easier or harder than Band Brothers?

I really didnt get on with Kirby. was too frustrating and fiddly to be entertaining.

But, i'm really enjoying Jump Superstars at the moment it's great for short bursts, has good solid gameplay with some surprising depth and then has tons of stuff to unlock and collect to give it some long term appeal. It's certainly the most played DS game i have at the moment.

Got Famicom Wars DS at the same time (near enough) - but it's a bit pish (i didnt like the GBA sequel either so it may just be me!). They just keep adding more units, and rather than skirmishing it's all "puzzle" levels which means you cannot win them unless you take advantage of one cheap trick (which you get told once you lose the first time). the stylus is good in some ways, but then they make everything so small and tiny that you end up clicking the wrong options on menus half the time such as 'End Turn' which instantly loses you the match when you do.

I'm really undecided on Kirby. I like bits of it but I'm not sure I can be bothered to play it.

Woot, im not alone. I enjoy the silly mini-games but the main game is just one big chore. it also feels like your playing against a time limit which is a big gaming turn off for me.

as soon as i get an on screen countdown i stop playing normally, as the dusty metroid box can tell you.

So Derbs & Pirotic, what would be your recommendations? Got Mario, Zoo Keeper, Polarium & Meteos.

Why not get Bomberman? story mode is as pish as always but it's got probably the best (and most customisable) multiplayer mode out of all of them, then if your happy to import treat yourself to the spiffy Jump Superstars and wait a couple of weeks for Nintendogs (US version, the UK isnt getting any new breeds anyway).

That should keep you busy until the third wave of games, such as Animal Crossing (woot!) and Mario Kart, New Mario Bros and Pilot Wings (did they announce that yet?).

Pilots Wings DS... Now there's a thought.. I'd borrow someone's granny to sell for that ;)

Always loved Bomberman but I'm not sure a new version would offer anything fresh enough to tempt me with a purchase. How playable is Jump: Superstars with no knowledge of Japanese whatsoever?

i love playing kirby - its my favourite game so far second to another code. i really dont like the mini game - boss bits in it tho. really weak.

Has anyone else had to wait over 5 weeks for a play-asia order?

Im getting a bit frustrated with them.

it's very heavy on japanese, but you can figure most of it out with common sense and a little time - so it doesn't really detract from the gameplay at all.

Stuff like creating decks, which i assumed would be next to impossible without knowing japanese is so straight foward i didn't even read the guide.

But alas, some of the "goals" for each level (which in return unlock stuff) really need to be looked up, as some of them would be impossible to figure out if it wasn't for my little translation guide i printed off gamefaqs.

Anybody who's tried to do the 'story' mode in japanese soul calibur will know what im talking about, you spend hours kicking ass only to find out you are ment to win without blocking or dressed as a goose or something.

I agree with you tho, the DS was made for Sim City - yet maxis keep doing these really poor sims ports from the GBA.

Shall we go over and slap them a few times?

Pirotic, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get Jump Superstars from and were you stung by customs?

Erm... ? I really liked Another Code; great game but very short unfortunately. Kirby is... ok, you may love it like Hy and a lot of others. Give it a go, if you don't like it you'll be able to get of it easily enough.
