Midfield looks weak imo. I'm stunned that Loftus-Cheek and Delph got in ahead of Wilshere.

Pretty sure you are taking the piss, but if not.

Danny Welbeck through on goal, he shoots! The ref blows his whistle for a throw-in.

Odd that Jones got in and Smalling didn't considering the number of minutes each of them played this season

It wouldn't have mattered, he was offside.

Yeah, I was wondering about this too. And didn't Smalling contribute more during qualifying? It seems that Southgate was so desperate to include Alexander-Arnold that he flipped a coin to see which Man U defender he should leave out.

Jones will withdraw due to injury anyway.

So, how we feeling about a road map for this particular thread going forward (now that we're only a month away) :D :

A few weeks of ridicule due to team selection; a scolding from one or two posters about the propensity of English fans to rip their own national team to shreds before a ball is kicked; a rally to 'get behind the lads'; a few days of 'fuck it, let's go!', as the post-work beers begin to flow (w/c 11 June); a spirited defeat in the opening game; a shambolic exit in the second game; and home just in time for a lovely round of media evisceration and pundits' lamentations?

If any England fan has grand hopes they're in for a hell of let down and they deserve the heart ache.

Embrace the mediocrity and enjoy the football played by other teams.

Jack's problem was that he faded badly 2nd half of the season. His legs looked gone. Gutting for him, as I think he's much better than those 2, but he also got injured at the wrong moment, right before the last internationals. I think that's what did him, despite playing 38 games this season.

Don't think the squad is that bad. We've had better squads in the past (on paper) and crash and burned regularly so my expectations are always low.

I'm mildly optimistic. I mean FINALLY a manager with the balls to drop Gerrard and Lampard

It looks painfully average. Especially in mf and at the back.

Should have taken Smalling. He's scored about as many as Wellbeck this year.

It blows my mind that Phil Jones, Jordan Henderson and Danny Welbeck could be the spine of this England team....

I know, imagine qualifying with shit like that in the squad. Or just imagine qualifying, one day ultra... Maybe... Probably not though.

Thatís some serious salt youíve got there!

Youíre right though, Iíll keep imagining how it feels to qualify....as long as you imagine how it feels to reach a semi-final in return ;)

Bale is worth more than the whole 23 man England squad combined.
