I'm super hyped for this game but not seen much or any discussion in the forums for this so apologies for creating the thread if one exists :)

So, WDL comes out in the 29th (Thursday), is anyone else excited/looking forward to this... especially the mechanics of being able to play as almost any of the 9 million citizens of the City of Laahndan?

Nope, too close to Cyberpunk and Hyrule Warriors for me. Might pick it up when its cheap or free like I did with the first 2.

Depending on reviews and the scale of the next gen upgrades, Iím very tempted with this. But then... thereís so much on GamePass already! Gah. Choice paralysis.

@ZuluHero fair enough, I haven't really followed the Cyberpunk game until I saw John Wick advertising it... does look very nice and should be glorious on next gen (Santa may be kind).

For Watch Dogs, I gave Watch Dogs 2 some deserved attention after not really giving time few years back and so glad I did as it is an absolute gem (sure there are a few niggles and the driving could be less twitchy but on the whole is very enjoyable).

With WDL the massive selling point is the location... London has me sold as nothing since The Getaway has done London or at least done it well (many probably not even heard of that game as it was decades ago).

I've hyped myself up and become so blinkered I bought the ultimate edition...

You spent 91 pounds on it, ok, to each his own.

I find the Watch Dogs games fun to play, but I really don't like the direction WD2 took, and Legion seems to be heading further that way. At least the location's great. Wasn't really keen on WD2's San Francisco, especially after WD1's much better Chicago setting.

If the reviews are positive, I might pick it up, but I'm thinking it might be a wait for a sale purchase for me.

Getaway is a great game as was the sequel. A double remaster would be most welcome.
As for WD, absolutely looking forward to it. Love the first two games.

@JamboWayOh yep, but I'm okay with it... I know I'll end up wanting the DLC sooner or later and spend the equivalent anyhow

But I know where your coming from.

I was one of the 6 people who actually enjoyed the tone of the first one. So I'm hoping it's a bit more like that and not the Fortnite esque cringefest the second game was.

    @SolidSCB
I think you may be disappointed mate, but we are getting AP dlc, so you might be in luck with that.

I watched the story trailer from the other week and it looked a bit more focused than the last one. Yeah there were still all the goofy masks and all that shite but it seemed a bit less cringey.

Yeah, I vastly preferred the story of the first game. Legion looks a lot closer to 2 than 1, which is why I'm lukewarm on it.

Also, I know it's cross-gen, but ray-tracing aside, the graphics look rather poor, IMO. The character models in 2 looked better than those of Legion, from what I've seen. Not the first game I want to play on my shiny new console.

If it turns out good, I'll change my mind, but for the moment Miles Morales and Valhalla are higher priorities for me.

Yup, too close to more Spider-Man Miles Morales and then (a week later) Cyberpunk for me to get this at launch.

Same thing with new Yakuza. Not that I'm complaining - means I've got some good stuff to look forward to in the new year when it's normally quiet on the gaming front.

With this out in three days, I was expecting to see reviews by now. Do they usually go right to the wire, or is this another stinker they wanna get day one sales before reviews bury it?

Think this is another day before release review embargo.

Have a feeling it'll be a pass at launch for me, as tempting as the London setting is there are just too many open world games coming up. WD2 just didn't click with me as well (I'm one of the weirdos who actually enjoyed the first game)

I really do hate this increasing bullshit of not allowing reviews until release date or just before.

Ah, cool. I'm thinking of making use of that eBay code mentioned on the front page to get this for £40. Code expires on 29th. :)

I was quite keen on this last year and earlier in the year but now itís about to hit release Iíve lost enthusiasm for it. Itís going to be completely overshadowed by Cyberpunk for me, and if I do have space for yet another open world game Iím more interested in AC Valhalla now (but even that will probably wait until Christmas).

I had no idea this was due out so soon as I assumed all the versions were coming out the same time. I might as well grab the PS4 version and just do a free upgrade later.

Not that interested in this one, but it allegedly came free with my 3090... except Overclockers are out of stock on the codes and it doesn't look like I'll get one.

So I'm actually pissed off about not getting a copy of a game I wasn't going to buy.

@Rogueywon maybe you can get them to send you a copy of another game as a replacement?

    (possibly one you actually want)

I'm leaning toward Valhalla for my Ubi open world to play this year. Plus as others are saying, Cyberpunk and SM:Miles at the same time make this a pretty low choice in a fairly long list.

Also - I really enjoyed WD2, while the first was rather dull - especially with the main guy being as interesting as a grey ironing board. So when they market the game with that guy I'm reminded of the game I didn't really enjoy rather than the one I really did.

Whelp, there are no headline guys in the next one, so it's moot. It's an entire city of millions of unique people (which will boil down to about half a dozen archetypes). :)

I thought it was a plus. You can find Aiden in the city. So presumably you can find him and stove his skull in. Win/win? :D
