    FF7 Remake
    Hades
    13 Sentinels
    Ghost of Tsushima

Yakuza 7 and Spiderman might be up there. I just don't know what to think of Cyberpunk at this point.

Yeah this is all a bit premature. It's clearly going to be cyberpunk. :)

Art of Rally I had stuck in my head but it has to be MS Flight Sim, got into alpha so was on it back in May.

I agree. The £25 price tag of shadow gang make it GOTY

I suspect TLOU2 would have been my game of the year if I had had the time and will to invest in a PS4.

Game most played is Dirt Rally 2.0.

I have found little to tempt me in games released in 2020.

Iíve actually played more current year releases in 2020 than I do most years. Unfortunately theyíve generally been flawed or underwhelming 8/10 games or lower.

Iím expecting my eventual GOTY to be Cyberpunk if that can count, or Demonís Souls.

I suppose currently itís one of TLOU2, Ghost of Tsushima or Valorant.

On the flip side of this thread, Dirt 5 is the worst game I've played this year. Admittedly, I try to avoid the obvious stinking turds, but I had a soft spot for Dirt 4.

Dirt 5, however, is a barebones attempt to get some quick cash in before the next-gen consoles hit. It looks like a late-era 360 game and is missing some features that have been standard in racing games since the PS2 (like the ability to see what's behind you when in first-person view).
Cm got burnt pretty badly on Grid Autosport. They released it late in the cycle, after Grid 2 which a lot of people didn't like. Because they released it on PS3 and 360 and not PS4/XB1 I think that cost they a lot of sales, which was a shame because I thought it was a pretty good game and sat well between sim and arcade.

CM now have the WRC licence, so it will be interesting to see what happens there and how they reconcile the WRC and Dirt brands.

Do a search on EG and you will see it.

However the deal starts from 2023.

I think the real issue is how that fits in with Dirt Rally. I know a lot of people complain about the fact Dirt Rally doesn't have the wrc cars. But it more than makes up for it in having a wide variety of cars with different handling characteristics to drive. TBH I prefer the Dirt Rally format. So does Dirt Rally die, and we get a WRC game with 20 odd homogenous cars, or is Dirt Rally an expansion pack on the WRC game ?

Codemasters behaviour with takeovers seems really odd. The SMS takeover for example. What exactly is their plan there ? Unless it was a fire sale of course.

I think TLOU2 is the only game of this year that Iíve even bought this year. I found the pacing terrible and the story repellant, but GOTY by default I guess.

Cyberpunk is GOTY for 2021 nominations. It just misses out on 2020, doesnít it?

For me, itís Death Stranding. Maybe it was just the timing but its tranquility, atmosphere, environment and excellent gameplay were perfect. Ghost cones second.

Yeah I looked it up after posting. 2023 is a long way off but it gives them time to work on the game.

I wouldnít mind a Dirt Rally type game but with a proper WRC career mode included (like how theyíve incorporated the Rally Cross licence in DR2.0). Might be expecting too much though - I imagine instead it will be a WRC-focused game with some legacy cars for a side mode.

Streets of Rage 4 easliy for me. For a game that takes 90 minutes to complete, I have spent about 210 hours playing so far.

The gameplay is just pure perfection. Couldnt of hoped for more in a sequel to the classic franchise.

For me it's definitely Astro's Playroom. Followed by Sackboy then probably Demon's Souls or Miles Morales.

Itís between Doom Eternal and Ghost of Tsushima for me at the moment, but I think both AC Valhalla and, obviously, Cyberpunk will be strong contenders too.

    Too early to call....

Good picks, currently playing through doom eternal for the second time. Pure brilliance if you ignore the marauder is in it.

Doom eternal was the main disappointment of the year for me. How to ruin a perfect perfect formula by adding endless systems/10

It's probably been one of the most "meh" years of gaming for a long time for me. Hades is the only real standout so far.

I think Iím the only person on the planet who didnít mind the marauder - yes, they were difficult and sometimes annoying, but they werenít impossible to kill and they added a nice layer of challenge that ramped the game up, IMO.

I can understand why some didnít love Eternal as much as D2016.....mechanically itís a different game, but I absolutely loved it.

Eternal and Ghost of Tsushima are my only 10/10ís this year.......so far.

Oh, and Iíve only played about 40 minutes of Hades, so that could also change......

Mine and I think most people's beef with it is that he doesn't fit. Every single other enemy in the game fits, there is a flow to the combat and that flow is what makes the game brilliant. Its a bit like rock, paper scissors where it just works. Every single time the marauder turns up the flow grinds to a halt. For the most part you can only damage him during the green flash. In the mean time he can shot gun you to death in a second or the axe throw kill you in a second or sends out his fire wolf. Yep he isn't actually that hard to kill when you focus on him but except for the first encounter with him he is never alone. Every encounter without him is a ballet, every encounter where he is there is like nails on a blackboard. Its a painful process each time, this is on I think nightmare or ultra violence, perhaps he is less annoying on hurt me plenty?

None of the games I've discovered and enjoyed this year were released this year- unless Gears Tactics (console release) counts. So screw it, my games of this year were Stardew Valley, Undermine and Vigor.

I'd probably give it to Among Us honestly.

But otherwise, between TLOU2 and Wasteland 3.
