Wtf is a herb dipped potato.
My trimmings are a little extravagant this year.
Chestnut and sage stuffing for the goose, sprouts tossed in olive oil and chopped walnuts, green beans with crispy bacon, herb dipped roast tatties and roasted buttered parsnips. -

Haha, I had to hide half our cheese last night. Only got a small block of comte you see, and no one is getting near that until Christmas night.

Registered 20 years agoHaha I'm not the only one. We got through a couple bottles of wine last night and ate about a kilo cheese, crackers and caramelised onions. The bedroom did NOT smell like a healthly place this morning 😱 Gassed the place, black bomber was to blame

Registered 9 years agoMrs hedben is rationing out the things we bought for Christmas, we're not allowed to go hog-wild until tomorrow. This past week me and the kids have been allowed:
- One tin of KP dry roasted
- One box of Cadbury festive biscuits
- One of the seven tins of cheeselets
She reckons we'd have nothing left if we'd started on it earlier, but I just think it's going to be carnage when we're finally let loose on everything tomorrow -

Registered 13 years agoI ate a big bag of M&S Turkey Feast crisps last night whilst watching Die Hard, it does not get more Xmas-y than that
I say 'ate' but I chucked most of them in the bin, absolutely vile things. Not recommended -

One of my pet hates is crisps that taste like a thing, rather than a flavour. Salt is a flavour, Vinegar is a flavour. Free Range Prosciutto Infused with Black Truffle is not something that should be sprinkled on a bag of crisps.

While Im moaning fuck kettle chips too, the greasy bastards. -

Registered 13 years agoWe’ve got a 5-bird roast this year. A bit experimental - wife has recently had surgery, so we decided to cut down on the amount of cooking needing done. I reckon it can basically just be bunged in the oven. -

Registered 16 years agoNot to piss on your chips or anything, but pre-done ones are kind of worthless, especially the cheaper ones. Its hard to taste the difference between bird tiers and they somehow still conspire to be 70% overly flavoured stuffing. -

Sorry, gonna be that guy. If it’s single malt then it’s whisky, not whiskey!
Christmas morning:
Vodka Redbull
Beer
Fizz during lunch (rib of beef, all the trimmings).
For afters-
Brandy
Single malt whiskey
Evening-
Probably beer, with a splash of Picon
Then sleep. -

Nah, it’s not a cheap option. It’ll be fine anyway, we have a shitload of other stuff even if it’s disappointing. It’s a choice of convenience due to circumstance, and if it’s not great we won’t do it again.

Registered 17 years agoMorrisons had been ravaged by the hordes yesterday and the only gammon joints left were approx 0.3 of a whole pig. So gammon for boxing day then every day after that.
Christmas desert will be lemon and raspberry cheesecake. My first attempt at a cheesecake so fingers crossed. "They don't seem difficult" he said, tempting fate. -

Registered 16 years agoIm going to pick up our christmas haul from M&S at 12.30pm. They sent us a lengthy email about the collection procedures and, apparently, pre-ordering christmas means I get 'priority access' to the food hall, so I have now got a whole new list of shit to get that people want. -

As far as I know, "whisky" = Scottish, Welsh, Canadian and Japanese, "whiskey" = Irish and American only. -

Registered 19 years agoI went out to the supermarket early this morning and picked up a few last bits. Thank fuck the shopping is all done and I can just relax and stuff my face in front of the telly.
I dig up the dahlias yesterday so don't even have any last minute gardening to do. Bliss. -
