What a odd and depressing year 2020 has been. Hopefully 2021 will be better.

With 2021 fast approaching, will any of you do things differently?

When I can, I'll spend more time with my family with actual visits and not just a text here and there. I'm also going to learn a second language.

Try and keep my job or become a grumpy stoner roadie/event crew again, virus permitting.

This also. I've been gifted some cookbooks and will definitely be eating less.

I'm thinking of taking more risks in my personal life, 2020 was at once one of my worst and best years.

Trying to work for myself so I don't have to work for the "man". Made a reasonable start this year. Also just in general not to get distracted and get on with stuff.

Fuck yeah, Jambo. Nobody ever wishes they took less risks. Well, they do but only ever one less

I was working on a few projects outside of work and they all stalled as a result of COVID. The break has done me good though, so I've had a total rethink on things and going to start afresh with a whole different approach. Plus, it's given me a lot more time to work out how to use certain tools and new gear.

But honestly, think it's going to be pretty much the same as 2020. I know I don't have to go back into work if I don't want to. I certainly don't think we'll be in any position to go on holiday abroad. Even with vaccinations and restrictions lifting. If that even happens.

Spending time with my partner and 19 month old has been great, though tense at times of course.

However I feel like Iíve lost a lot of my personal identify by being stuck at home the whole year, but itís been so long that Iím now a bit anxious about returning to Ďnormalí.

Finding a balance between the benefits of home working (less time / money commuting) but getting back into the world a bit would be great.

As for specific goals... learn to drive, read (a bit, at least), give mindfulness a proper try.

Drink less and do what I want to do rather than what someone else wants.

Basically saying no to in laws.

I canít see 2021 being much different to 2020. That said, having worked from home for most of this year Iíll be better equipped to do it next year, so the stress of figuring out how to make it viable and productive will be minimised.
Going to exercise more, and prep for the autumn season change better, as thatís the one that hits me hardest.
Otherwise, I want to read more, and do more engaging activities than just gaming and movies. Being stuck at home alone itís not the easiest but I have a few ideas.
And Iíd like to take a few weekend breaks as long as itís safe to travel. Likely local destinations around Europe rather than proper holiday destinations - just something to break up the year and get me out of my normal environment.

If Sweden gets itís shit together then the whole country could be vaccinated by summer, so hopefully the end of the year will be more normal, even if certain restrictions remain.

I've kind of earmarked 2022 as a big travel year. I don't think things in 2021 will be sorted enough to make travel viable. I've got a holiday planned (cancelled from this year). But 2022 will be a good one, all being well. I intend to tick a couple more places off the bucket list

Ahh, cool. I mean taking more risks doesn't work for everyone but sometimes if you don't go for stuff you'll never know what could have been. I mean I did something this year that I rarely do and cut a friend of many years out of my life and it was the best thing I ever did.

Carry on with my cycling. Joined a local group in the summer which has been great. Really enjoyed it. Going to set myself a goal of 3000km and do a couple of sportives. If possible.

    See friends more often.

Got the travelling itch as well. If possible I like to go to Japan after I had to cancel my two month trip this year. Donít know if i can do two months now - job and being a responsible adult and all that but Iíd be happy doing three weeks in the autumn. Fingers crossed.

Last couple of weeks Iíve been turning a novel I got stuck on into a graphic novel. Iíd actually like to finish something once in my life and this as breathed new life into it. Have to see though. Suspect it will just fizzle out as most things do.

2020 was miserable but achieved a fair bit. Took refresher lessons for driving, brought a car which meant Iíve been able to go out more and work on my photography. Cycling group as kept me fit and I lost weight. So yeah carry that on but see friends.

I'm hoping that the pubs will re-open so I can resume serious daily drinking - it just isn't the same at home :-(

I'd also like to retire, but there's no chance of that happening. Only another 19 years to go, unfortunately i won't last that long.

@TechnoHippy I hesitate to ask, but why won't you last that long?
