Registered 10 years agoIs Bowser's Fury a new expansion for it? I loved 3d World on the Wii U, was one of the highlights of an otherwise pretty crap console. -

Registered 15 years agoI played this on Wii U and actually thought it was a bit too easy. Like they'd decided to make a more child friendly Mario game.
However, the footage of Bowser's Fury absolutely has me sold. -

Registered 11 years agoI'd play the addon if it were standalone. Didn't really like 3D World - I too felt this one was aimed more at the kids. -

Registered 16 years agoIt took me a bit longer to gel with 3D World, especially after the super tight design of 3D Land, but I did get into it. I'm really looking forward to this release. -

Registered 13 years agoI think 3D World is probably my favourite Mario game of all. I'll definitely grab this and then if they re release Woolly World aswell I don't really don't have any reason to keep my Wii U plugged in. -

Registered 13 years agoThe Bowser’s Fury extras look really good which is annoying as hell because 3D World is poor in comparison to all other home console 3D Marios.
Would have loved this as Odyssey DLC but Nintendo decided to use it to resell their inferior offering instead. (Which is genius business sense to be fair). And that just makes it even more infuriating. -

Registered 8 years agoThe first few worlds/level were pretty easy, but the later/ secret stuff had lots of challenge.
Deffo my favourite mario other than maybe super mario world.
Having recently played a good chunk of 64 and galaxy I'm left wondering why those are often considered the pinnacle, this was far better imo.
Multiplayer was another brilliant aspect of the game, hope this has an online aspect as due to covid couch multiplayer with friends is not a thing. -

Guessing Covid has slowed them down but yeah, considering much of their output this gen has been basically re-tooled WiiU ports (Pikmin 3, Mario Kart, BOTW, 3D World, Donkey Kong, Splatoon "2", Smash Bros, New Mario U etc...50% recycled content) it seems they're up to their old tricks.
There's supposed to be a Metroid Prime trilogy soon but again, just another port.
It's especially galliing when Switch is their only format, kind of thought their output would increase when they combined their handheld and home hardware.

Registered 13 years agoDidn't enjoy the movement of Mario in 3D World at all. Got as far as defeating Bowser and put the game down. Think I was spoiled by the Galaxy games, which were better. -

Yeah, those levels at the end after you 100% the normal levels are really tough, I think I gave up on them in the end. The normal levels are fairly easy though. The real challenge is getting all the stars/secrets rather than just completing the levels, which I think is the best way for most games.

I assumed this would be another lazy remake so wasn't interested, but the new expansion looks really good! -

Pretty sure I will like it as I have always preferred the setting over the gameplay. (Even on 1000 Year Door). -

Registered 14 years agoI loved 3D world. As Andy said, the trick is to get all the stars and secrets in each level. If you just run to the end, then it's too easy. I guess that's also the brilliance of it: Anyone can play how they like it. I remember my boys just doing the "run to the end" and wondering what was taking me so long to finish this game
Also the cherry power-up was brilliant. It should not work but somehow it did -

That's basically the case with every Mario game ever made. Nintendo are the masters of making games challenging and very fun to 100% (without resorting to pathetic collectibles like western developers) but easy to play and finish for youngsters.

Very true. In most of the 3D games about 40% of the stars / shines / moons are entirely optional.

Going from Galaxy to 3D World felt like a step back IMO. But somehow their recent 2D Marios felt more fresh.
That said, I'd love a new 2D Mario game on Switch.
