Due to Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD, I’ve never offloaded my Wii U despite there not being much room for it anymore. It’s truly the strangest of consoles but that’s another story... I’ve heard a bit or speculation that after 3D All-Stars, a similar Zelda collection on Switch is a good shout for this year. The 2 Wii U ports would be pretty simple and if it were to happen I imagine these 2 games are all we’d get. Nothing official on this and for some reason, my gut tells me it won’t happen even though it would make money. What do you think? |
Chances of a Zelda Collection for 35th anniversary?

Registered 15 years agoI would be amazed if there isn’t something. I think they’ve openly said they’re planning activity for it. There are lot more 3D Zelda games than Mario so may well not be all of them, but Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are both due a remaster/rerelease.
Presumably BotW2 will also be part of the 35th anniversary activity. -

I think if anything is to happen, they’ll likely just reissue the Wii U versions of Wind Waker / Twilight Princess as it’s the easiest money. Skyward Sword would be a complicated remake but again I’ve heard murmurs about it.
Ocarina and Majorca’s mask could be possible too, based on the 3DS remakes. Both look quite primitive now but certainly no worse than Mario 64... -

Registered 10 years agoI think there have been plenty of Skyward Sword remaster rumours, as others have said, there will surely be *something* but being Nintendo any collection will likely not err on the generous side. -

Registered 16 years agoI want nothing less than the CDi games remastered, in all their glory. I'm only half-kidding, I've never experienced them and would love to see how bad they truly are. Now I think about it, I vaguely recall a Eurogamer article about a PC fan remake so I'll have to see if those are still a thing, or if Nintendo have lawyered them out of existence yet. -

They certainly have a track record for it but I think the question is what games they would choose for said collection.
Any collection would be 3 games max I expect and there are 5 3D Zeldas to choose from, plus Link Between Worlds as a wild card.
Skyward Sword would need fully remade so can count that out of a collection. They’ll charge full price for it on its own should it ever appear. -

They’re not actually that hard to find on EBay, but you’d need to buy a CDi too of course.

Registered 15 years agoTwo double packs. Ocarina + Majora = Vol 1. WW + TP = Vol 2.
£50 each or both volumes for £80.
Skyward complete remake = £55.
Original Zelda Game & Watch = £40.

Registered 10 years agoI wouldn't have a problem at all paying full price for them individually if they were proper remakes and not barebones remasters. I've never played Majora's Mask so a proper remake with modern visuals would be fantastic.
Link's Awakening was great so I suppose there is some hope but the Mario collection doesn't help provide optimism. Of course, like millions of others I voted with my wallet by buying it then whinged on the internet. -

Get it on the 3DS (if you have one). I highly recommend it. It's one of my favourite Zelda games. Just don't expect "Ocarina 2" (like I did way back when) because it most definitely is not.

Registered 16 years agoWhen it comes to the 3D older games, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask I'd expect that the fan community will still be the place to go in coming years as they experiment with various ways of altering existing versions.
It's a certainty that somebody will eventually tackle the 3DS versions and set about reversing all the changes Nintendo made bringing back something equivalent to the originals with the updated visuals and frame rate of the 3DS versions. -

Registered 16 years agoSkyward Sword is quite complicated because of the controls I think. Not just the motion controls but the pointer controls. A large portion of the puzzles are built around them. I think it was the same reasoning that led to Mario Galaxy 2 being omitted from the All Star Collection -

Registered 17 years agoThey’ll probably do some kind of release for something. However, what a way to celebrate then to announce an all new Zelda game on an all new Switch console?

There are plenty of exhaustive lists of changes to the games if you want to dig in. Ranging from parts being censored, to changes to gameplay itself (sadly for the worse in some instances), dumbed down difficulty and bosses etc. Nintendo tend to channel their inner George Lucas every time they revisit something.

Registered 9 years ago@Trent_Steel Another option, if it is still available and you have a Wii U, is get it in that. It isn’t a fancy updated version, like the 3DS. But you can play it on your TV or the game pad. (This is for Armoured Bear.)
I would like a Skyward Sword remaster above all the other titles. I have only played it the once. The tricky controls stopped me returning to it. But if they optimise it for the Switch, graphic overhaul or not, I would pay full price again.

Registered 4 years agoI just bought breath of the wild. Is links awakening or what ever it's called also worth getting? Also holy shit how much 2nd hand and new copies are for breath of the wild. Managed to get it for £37 and that was the first copy to be under £40 second hand for about a week. It's over three years old. -

Registered 14 years agoLink’s Awakening is also great. Very different though as it is a traditional Zelda that is under 20 hours. -
I don't think it'll happen. Nintendo have a bad habit of not doing what fans would enjoy.
