Seems a bit weird that they'd go with PS exclusivity for the maiden demo, then pump it out as a game pass title day 1.

I cancelled my preorder a while back as I can't decide which console to get it on, so thought I'd wait for the DF treatment. Certainly not going to complain if my mind gets made up for me by GP!

Be interesting to see how the 45fps to enable raytracing feels on the eyes.

It will be quite messy without VRR. No idea why it's not 30fps.

Weird decision, pity there's no 1440p60fpsRT option.

It is odd. I remember I re played condemned on my series x a few months back. Watched a little video on YouTube beforehand and they mention that it's at a locked 45fps on the X.

They go into how it's an odd decision as the frame rate creates a constant "judder" look throughout the game.

@captbirdseye it will be quite messy with VRR too, many displays won't go below 48hz.

The difference between 30 and 60 is pretty huge to be fair

@Frogofdoom it is, but if I have to play at 45fps, then I'd rather have 30fps on higher resolution instead.

Anyway, I imagine Capcom will make a 180 soon enough.

This was my fear, the constant feel as though it's dipping from 60. Shame.

Also weigh up the noise of the PS5 compared to the Series X ;)

This is fucking stupid. 45fps?! I've got a series S so I'll be playing at 30fps with the ray tracing I'm not sure why they chose to go for such a stupid framerate. Capcom are so weird at times, guaranteed they'll patch it to have 60fps with an appropriate resolution after people start complaining.

It seems like a good compromise for those of us with VRR tellys, but will be a pretty horrible experience for everybody else where 30 would've made more sense. Does the PS5 even properly support VRR yet?

I bet it'll get patched to 30fps after the inevitable reaction and we'll have another God of War situation where people are playing unpatched disc versions of it.

    PS5 doesn't support VRR even improperly, I don't think.

Ah yeah, I'm thinking of the 120fps options they stealth added in the recent update.

I guess that's the decision about which version to buy made for me in that case (and if it does come to gamepass that's just gravy)

I downloaded the 10gb demo and itís just a countdown clock that claims the ďnext demoĒ will be available on Tuesday.

This convoluted timed nonsense has put me off even trying the demo. Why go to all of the effort of making a demo that people can't play?

Never did get around to playing the maiden demo actually, so I'll give it a blast instead.

It's total crap, I'm not going to bother either. I'm lucky to get any time for gaming let alone at specific small windows on someone else's schedule.

Hoping VRR on my TV will mean I can play this at the 45fps raytracing mode and have it feel like a 60fps title.

Hopefully Baby Maybe has a better night than last night or Iíll not be able to give the demo a real shot.

I quite like the idea as a marketing exercise to drum up maximum hype. Its just not hugely helpful to those of us in one hours gaming once the family have gone to bed community

Just checked and lg vrr range is 40 -120 so 45fps should be OK if you're in the lg oled boat.

If the intention was to drum up hype, I donít think itís worked. Iíve seen nothing but criticisms of the decisions and a lot of people saying they probably wonít bother.

Why are they even bothering with a demo? Its Resident Evil. Everybody is going to buy it anyway.

It'd depend on the viewer and how consistently the game holds the 45fps target.

As an example, one of the Return to Arkham remasters was locked at 45fps and I couldn't tell. It just felt smooth to my eyes. On the other hand, the One X version of Dead or Alive 6 ran the 4K mode in the 40s, and it felt sub-30 to my eyes. Maybe even sub-20. It wasn't smooth at all.

So consistency, frametimes, and the individual viewer will all impact how fluid a game feels to each person.
