Don't think this has been mentioned at all but looks like there's a Diablo 2 remake in the works, being made by Vicarious Visions who made the Tony Hawk 1 + 2 remake as well as a team at Blizzard. Registered 16 years ago@askew Nah, they're actually pretty different games. Diablo 3 is pretty and I have sunk way too many hours into it, but it smoothed a lot of its predecessor's rough edges. It's a more accessible game, but I can see how people would miss the harsher mechanics from Diablo 2. -

Registered 16 years agoNah they play quite differently. D3 is like a slot machine, always worried to bore or offend you. D2 game play was slower and more unforgiving, and more about the atmosphere, atleast for people like me who are a bit shit. Now, atmosphere is difficult to replicate but if they pull it off I'd definitely be interested.

Registered 8 years agoYeah the atmosphere of D2 is a world away from D3. D2 feels quite brooding and oppressive whereas D3 always felt me like a Haunted house attraction kind of atmosphere. Don't get me wrong about D3 though, I've put far too many hours into it that I care too mention. -

Registered 8 years agoBeen 20 years since I played diablo 2 and only 3 or so since I played diablo 3 on switch.
To me it seemed like I was playing diablo 2 with modern graphics... put many hrs into it so will probably do so again. -

Registered 19 years agoDiablo 1 made me feel kind of depressed, it was just a dungeon crawl going deeper and deeper. I remember piling money up beside my chest because there was nothing to buy and I had far too much. Hellfire made it better, and I was about to say something about the expansion being caught up in licensing limbo as it was made and published by Sierra, but it's all owned by Activision Blizzard now. -

All over this. D1 was utterly brilliant and miserable. D2 was fatter, has lots of fields which had you desperate for a dungeon and boss section....but wow. Those cutscenes and story. Just great. -

I think I played a demo of 1 but not 2. I'm sure this is around the time I fell out of pc gaming.
Quite interested in giving it whirl. -
