| Milan San Remo on Saturday, finish about 3.30ish UK time, great last 10km, bit of snoozefest before that. Anyone outside MvdP, WvA, Alaphilippe winning this? |

Registered 17 years agoInterviewers have asked Mathieu why he sometimes attacks waay early, contrary to conventional tactics. So far he's mentioned boredom, getting fed up with the jostling for position and nervousness in the peloton.
It's usually a snoozefest until the Poggio but in a 300 km race, I can see MVP getting bored and going early on the Cipressa like in the olden days.
There may be an outside joining a breakaway but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with the big three out in front again to duke it out amongst themselves. -

Registered 13 years agoI am watching my recording. Still 100km to go.
I'm mostly enjoying the scenery atm. Another trip to Italy would be most welcome. Tbh going anywhere would be good... 😀

Registered 15 years agoDo love a last few k attack that hangs on. Some odd goings on behind: Caleb Ewan looked incredible and should really have won if not for a bit of indecision in the last km by the chasers, Alaphilippe getting shafted by Ganna doing about 600w up the Poggio & MvdP getting out-sprinted by some guy called Sagan. LTR podcast recap will be good I think. -

Registered 15 years agoKinda happy for Cavendish to get into the leader's jersey after narrowly missing out on the win in the first stage. Lower level race but he's doing ok.

Former Great Britain cyclist Lauren Dolan has been forced to retire aged 21 after suffering serious injuries in a crash caused by a car, saying the incident has ended her "Olympic dream".
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/56461907
Dolan was in a crash while training in Devon in 2019, 48 hours after she had won bronze at the World Championships.
The driver has been found guilty of driving without due care and attention and fined £1,079.
"You can't put a price on a young person's career," said Dolan.
"The driver who caused the collision has ended my cycling career and he has only had to pay the sentence fine.

Registered 16 years ago“The driver - a 73-year-old man - was also found guilty of failure to stop and failure to report an accident. He has also been given 10 penalty points.“
So not even banned from driving. This chap seems like he might need to take another test? -

To bad the TV broadcast doesn't start until an hour from now. :-/ -

Registered 17 years agoBouhanni at it again. Makes an incredibly dangerous maneuver mid-sprint and then mouths off to his victim after the finish.

He's been relegated and the UCI has now sent it to the disciplinairy commission.
A 9-month ban (the same as Groenewege received) seems reasonable. Maybe make it 12 because he keeps pulling crap like this.

Registered 15 years agoProven track record of tosserism now. The UCI should at least match Groenewegen‘s punishment if they’re looking at intent, but I suspect they’ll fuck it up and look at the result. That would have been just as bad as Jakobsen if the fancy new barriers weren’t there. -

Looking again, I think there's 'unprotected' barriers at the start of that clip and a few meters before Bouhanni bumps him, they change to protected barriers.

I have to say safety-wise, all race organizers should have a look at the E3 and Gent-Wevelgem races from last week. Impressive safety measures and protection. -
Geraint Thomas has a podcast apparently.
He's having a chat with Tom Boonen about Paris-Roubaix this week.
