Registered 8 years agoCurrently on a great run of about 3 hrs in length.
Got over 200% health and 70% increased recovery, plus heal % of damage dealt based on adrenaline level. Also have 2 large health pack and 3 smaller ones (not been using them as my health regeneration is obscene!). Have other buffs, but not sure they are of much worth compared to what I have listed. Also have an astronaut figurine ready and waiting.
Breezed through biome 2 beating the boss on attempt 2 and am now quite a way into biome 3 on my first time there. Got access to central tower earlier before switching off.
When this game clicks it sure does click well! -

That Biome 3 bosses final form was quite intense!
Now building myself up in Biome "4". Got an astronaut figurine and some extra health. Have found the boss door, but want to earn some more oblites to buy the extra 25% health upgrade. -

Registered 8 years ago@nickthegun well I was so well made from biome 1 and 2 I found 3 fairly easy, approaching the boss made me use some health items, but still had two large packs for the boss. Used them both but didn't use an astronaut figurine at all! Have so far beat all 3 bosses on this run...
Have come close to dying in Biome 4 a couple of times. Is just like biome 1 (other than the obvious) in that you can get dicked over pretty quick before you find much of worth to build yourself up.

Registered 8 years agoWell biome 4 boss done me on his third form.
Wasn't confident with the my load out, took a lot of silly hits in his first form and used my figurine way too early in the fight. Just got to his third form and lasted about a minute.
Now for a better build please biome 4!

If you start with the early rooms full of those swarmy fucks that shoot down the triple expanding red rings of doom good luck on that round is all I will say! -

Registered 16 years agoYeah, I unlocked everything quite a while ago. The last few biomes shower you in ether and even at max the yorkshireman in me thinks 'thats a bit steep' for decontaminating malignant stuff, so I always roll with 30 now.
I dont even need to cash it in for money because Im probably averaging at least 1k per biome now. -

That was awesome! Sure I got frustrated early on, and did find biome 4 a bitch to get through enough to make the rest plain sailing, but died no more than 8-10 times in Biome 4, only died once in Biome 5 and completed Biome 6 1st time.
Absolutely stellar game. Now there is more to be done to unlock an alternative ending?! Well, I guess I can go back to Biome 1 and finally explore the hookshot areas at last and see if any secrets get revealed to me.
I dont think a game has had me this hooked purely for the gamrplay for a long long time! Story yes, gameplay? No. This really is a gem of a game!
Total time 32.5 hrs, total deaths 34. Not bad, about 1 death per hr of gameplay. Also had no issues re lack of save as it turned out. Did have to disable auto updates and rely on nonpower cuts a few times when on 3 or more Biome runs. -

Registered 12 years agoI pop it on now and again in the hope I can get the right instance so I can get the last audio log in B1 but it just isn't happening. I must have been through it with a fine tooth comb 40 times now.
Only real misstep the game has for me. In an already obscure game, a lot of cool lore that helps put it all together is at the mercy of RNG. -

Registered 8 years agoYeah would be cool if completed to have a bonus mode to just fight the bosses again with a set of predetermined loadouts of increasing difficulty just for shits and giggles.
Played through a few biomes (1 and 2 - died, 4 and 5 - died) tonight, found one sun sphere in Biome 5 and also completed another house sequence. I guess Iay have another one to do. I think I have done 4 or 5 of them now... -

I remember a Housemarque interview when they brought out Alienation, saying they'd been playing a lot of Dark Souls and it was an inspiration and I thought yeah!?! I can't pause this twin stick shooter.
So I guess this is the real payload, brilliant game, top dollar etc. -

Registered 8 years agoJust finished biome 4-6 again and found the sun things in all 3 now. Disappointingly killing Ophion didn't trigger the achievement second time around. So am missing that and finish act 2 trophy too?! I guess I won't bother going for the platinum then. -

Nex Machina is fantastic, I first bought it on PC and then the PS4 version a couple of years later in a sale. It just plays so damn well, it's probably my favorite of their pre-Returnal games.
