Hungry for this game now but concerned a delay is likely on the cards... still... canít be anywhere as much as a car crash (no pun intended) as Cyberpunk 2077 surely?!

It's a first party Sony product it's an incredibly slim into very skinny chance of this being a technical car crash. Insomniac make nothing but polished stuff of late.

They only announced the release date four months before the game is due to come out, so would have to be a pretty massive cock-up if they have to delay now. I'd be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt, I reckon we'll still see it in June.

I'll probably end up eating my words though.

No evidence at all to suggest a car crash on this one and the studio pedigree suggests it will be incredibly solid.

The recent Deathloop delay is a stark reminder that no game is safe from delays, regardless of how close it is to launch, and how deep into its marketing campaign it is.

Insomniac have already shipped a PS5 game, and Ratchet is pretty much I known quantity (and I don't mean that as any sort of criticism).
I'm not really expecting this to slip at this stage.

I never played the last R&C game until it hit PlayStation Plus and I loved it! Really looking forward to this!

If you shop around it can be had for about £63 (still a hard pill to swallow).

I think I've had every R&C except that 4 player one, nothing really changes regarding the formula but they're like a comfort food in gaming form for me. Not sure I'll pay £70 quid for it but this will be the perfect antidote to Dark Souls 3 which is kicking my arse.

Same except the last part. Iíve played them all (I think) but I donít think Iíve loved any of them, they are all just ok tech demos.

Definitely a Ďwhen itís cheapí game.

Yep not paying full price. Actually told myself not to buy any PS5 full price because they are taking the piss.

I can't imagine paying 70 quid for Ratchet & Clank. Maybe, just about maybe I would cave for something epic like Elder Scrolls or Souls etc but no way for this.

Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time were two of my favorite games on the PS3. I'd grumble about paying full price for this, but I'd pay.

I will probably buy this full price. R&C games are just very much the definition of arcade games, fun, well designed and a welcome break from the hardcore type games.

I can't think of anything else on the horizon until the end of the year so I really don't mind paying the price and also happy to support Insomniac who are masters of their art.

Sub £50 I'd be there day one but more than that I really struggle to justify.
I've loved the Ratchet games over the years, but each one is definitely more evolution than revolution, so it's difficult to stomach a huge mark-up against the last one.

£50 in 2006 (PS3 era) is equivalent of £72 in todays money. I can see why they are asking for this kind of money personally with the amount of 4k assets etc.

I think there are enough people who will pay it to start with. Just like any generation, if you are willing to wait 6 months you will get it for £20 less.

This has been my theory. Similar with constant sales of clothes and whatnot, we have been trained to not pay full price for games in these last few years, so the price increase is purely to capitalise on the whales who will pay whatever and front load their return with a longer tail for people who pick it up cheap.

You cant spend an entire console generation teaching us that games are basically worthless, jack the price up and expect people to be happy about it.

I don't remember paying £50 for anything in 2006 either! :D IIRC about £35 was the norm for me in the 360/PS3 generation. In fact I remember buying 2 games for £45 on the same day - Rock Band 2 (I think) and Mortal Kombat vs DC. I loved Rock Band and I loved MK so it felt worth it but I remember it was way more than I was used to paying. I even went in to an actual GAME shop to get them for some reason so I definitely paid over the odds.

Sony are desperately trying to normalise the £70 price point, and I am doing my bit to make sure that doesnt happen.

I wont be buying this until after a deep discount...or not at all.

I just can't get my head around the £70 thing. As others have mentioned, some real AAA titles (new Elder Scrolls, GTA etc) I could just about bring myself to dig deep but when it's the likes of R&C and Returnal I can't help but think they've lost a potential (launch) buyer.

Like others, I'll have to wait 6 months until we start hitting 50% off...if that happens this gen, we don't know how sales will play out yet.

It's probably made harder by getting all MS first party titles for next to nothing thanks to GPU, which just makes £70 an even harder pill to swallow.

I'll stick to my guns and not get this at launch, despite it being one of my fave series of games.

R&C has a bit of pedigree about it. It just seems to be the tax for next gen only stuff, don't see it staying £70 forever and it's not like we're getting a game every week. Again I didn't see all the fuss and a big stand being made when Demon's Souls pulled it, so the £70 seems to be entirely subjective based on people's pre perceived enjoyment of a game.

I have far too big a backlog to consider this at launch anyway, I'll probably pay 30-40 quid for it on sale by the end of the year. Totally fine by me. RRP is basically an early adopter tax.

I really want Demon's souls but not for £70 as I have already completed the game on PS3. Strangely enough I paid £55 for the game on PS3 as I imported it from Hong Kong just so I could play it a few months earlier. I will get it for PS5 when it gets that 20% discount so I can buy it again for £55.

I suppose that is the crux of the issue, we all have varying prices for what a game is worth due to personal taste. I will pay the full price for Rift Apart but can completely understand why others wont.

Either way when Resident Evil Village is coming out around the same time as Ratchet & Returnal but at £20 cheaper it's not a great look.

Yeah, same. Its a problem, really. Having principles is great but theres fuck all out on the PS5, so I am tempted to pick it up if only for having something to play.

In all honesty, if I had a time machine, I would have just bought a Series X rather than a PS5 and an S. I play on my S 100x more than the PS5.

They've obviously seen enough success from the early games to carry it on. I think the chance at a swift exit for this sort of pricing went out of the window after that. Same with Miles Morales. That's easily £20 more than it 'should' be but it never really seemed to be an issue. It's easy to pick and choose your battles but nothing ever changes like that.

After next Christmas and when you can waltz into a shop and pick up a PS5 off the shelf I bet a pound to a pinch of shit games will be around the £55 mark new. It is what it is for now.

Ubisoft, Capcom, etc are already available below £50, Sony just think theres are worth more. They usally make great games, but we shall see.
When the market has transitioned between generations more, and their competitors games are available at much less (or nearly free with MS).
Ratchet might be OK (although to be honest it's never been a big seller), but this is going to kill Returnal.

Did you see how quick Hitman 3 dropped! It started over £60, and is now less than £40.
