Right, first moan.. fidelity mode looks great but when it gets busy things get a bit jarring. Both performance and performance RT seem to set the resolution in the TV to 1080p and looks rather washed out for it.

I'm sure normal performance mode should just drop the RT.
IĎve noticed the exact same thing, it looks less lush in performance RT mode. And when the screen fades to black for a second (right after you change the graphics mode), it looks grey rather than pitch black (on an LG9). A bit like black looks on an LCD TV.

In fidelity mode, itís just black.

    Somethingís not quite right.

Sounds like there will be a patch or two needed pretty quickly.

@UncleLou if you turn off 120hz support in system settings then the performance modes work properly with HDR, for whatever reason. Hopefully thatíll get patched.

I've just seen that on Reddit, I'm trying that myself now, but there is also another patch this morning

The patch does nothing to stop changing to 1080p so you still need to turn off 120hz support in settings

But back to all shiny at 60fps now

Is it as pretty in the flesh then? I'm still kind of undecided at full price.

It is very, very pretty. I also find the combat surprisingly good, playing one notch above normal.

Oh yeah, I have zero will power and I've also got a few days off next week so have zero chance of holding out. It's just the simple family friendly gameplay that's giving me doubt.

Did you get the 2016 remake for free a little while back? If so, give that a go and it should give you an idea.

@Decks Buy some cdkeys psn credit and get it, it's now or in a matter of days as you'll fold before then. I couldn't even last before it was released before ordering it. It's new and it's so shiny ( very ) you may as well cave now and just buy it.

I've used my son as a bit of an excuse to buy this, but I am not so sure now. It's ... shootier/more "violent" ... than I remembered/expected, but then I haven't played the last one with the eyes of a kid.

He's 6, German rating is 12, PEGI is 7. I don't follow that slavishly, but this seems a bit too much.

How do you lot with small kids handle this?

It's only really in the last year that I've loosened up about things like that, but then my eldest is now 11. Pretty sure he played the PS4 version at that sort of age but I had to help him with some of the puzzles etc. Don't recall being worried about the shooting as such but there were a few enemies that he didn't like.

    @UncleLou

It may well be too complicated for a 6 year old too. Quite a few different button presses, menu's etc. At that age I would be playing the lego games with my kids and they are co-op and much easier to play.

Weíve played a couple of those, but also Pilkmin, Luigiís Mansion, Mario Odyssey. I donít think heíll have problems with the controls, itís more realistically ragdolling lizard humanoids you shoot with a shotgun I am slightly concerned about. :p

I think you're underestimating how good they can get at games at that age. My 6 year old constantly surprises me with what he can play.

    Yeah, absolutely.

Will you let your kid play Ratchet when you inevitably buy it this weekend, Decks?

Yeah. Although I am probably more lax with stuff than I should be.

Kids seem to pick up gadgets incredibly easily these days. The controls are probably not that bad but kids do get frightened at things you wouldn't expect or just don't think of. No blood though in R&C which makes it a bit more palatable.

Its just completely frozen my ps5. Crashed about 10 mins in and I had to unplug it as it was completely unresponsive.

Its now booting in safe mode and only giving me the option to reset the ps5 by reinstalling the system software from usb drive.

Had crashes like that a few times with Cyberpunk.

edit: Wait, not with the system software, but complete freezes where only unplugging helped.

Hate the whole "safe mode" shite on PlayStation (3, 4 and now 5). Have seen those screens and "rebuilding database" etc far too often which is amazing as I haven't experienced an equivalent on any Nintendo or Xbox consoles.
