The PC version doesn't sound great either, with some controller-related stuttering weirdness. Suspect I'll wait this one out and see how it all boils down given how bad the support was for Automata.
In fact, it sounds a bit of a shit-show. There's always the vain hope that the reviewers and influencunts reporting the issues are on pre-release code and that what launches this evening will be better, but... not holding my breath.

Well, guess that's my mind made up. PC would've been the obvious choice if there's no next gen love (I mean even X/Pro improvements would've been something ffs!)

You'd think after the shitshow with Automata on PC they would've learned... The Windows store version and planned Steam patch for that at least gives me some hope for the future I suppose.

Guess I'll give this a go when it eventually hits Game Pass, but Automata was pretty uneven for me... I finished it, but the combat gameplay was boring, I didn't even bother with the fetch sidequests, and having to repeat the same levels twice just left me cold. The story and characters too, they were sometimes very good, and sometimes scraping into the most bottom-of-the-barrel clichè of anime tropes.

I guess it was worth it for the ending, but that's it really. Glad I've played it, but not a game I would replay anytime soon... or ever again.

I'm sitting here waiting for my White Snow edition, for which the Square Enix store have given me neither delivery estimate nor tracking number.

The Square Enix store is shite.

PC version's running ok for me, albeit configuration options are minimal and the mouse cursor keeps appearing on-screen. That said, other than 4k/60fps, visual upgrades over the old version seem few and far between. It's not a pretty game.

My White Snow edition did arrive \o/

Got it installed and updated, but haven't had a chance to dive in yet.

Quite liking it so far, flat visuals aside. THe combat feels a lot better than I remember.

@Rogueywon didn't they rehaul it for the remaster so it's closer to Automata?

@Malek86 Yes, think so. It certainly has a very similar flow to it now.

Four hours in and liking this. It's a weird blend of modern-AAA with 360-era-jank, but the combat flows well now, the narrative is good and the music is fantastic.

I can’t remember much from the original version of this, apart from thinking the music was so nice. Did the prologue last night, looking forward to starting it properly.

I'm about 7 hours in and seem to be motoring through it, unless I've forgotten the length of the first playthrough of the game...!

Cant get enough of the score, I listen to it often when revising, just superb.

One trophy I missed on PS3 and Xbox360 achievement was the 100 combo one. Got 99 earlier, fucksticks.

Fucking hell, what is that outfit all about!? I'm embarrassed to play this on my own, let alone once my other half is around.

Also this Lithianian Eurovision entry needs to stop playing every time I run off to do something.

Around the 7 hour mark. Love the "main" game, but as with Automata, some of the sidequests can absolutely do one.

I feel like some side quests are deliberate trolls on the player. Finding eggs us way more obtuse than it needs to be, fighting the boar takes about 10 mins and don't get me started on the one about carrying the package. All for rewards that don't really seem worth it. Only reason I'm doing it is because you occasionally hear party dialogue

@Tuffty Automata had some more interesting and plot-related sidequests hidden away late in the game. I'm being pretty thorough on Replicant's so far, just in case they're pre-requisites for interesting later ones, but the endless tracking back and forth between towns is annoying.

Given that JRPG companion battle dialogue tends towards the likes of "Let's do our best!" and "We can do it if we work together".... "I'll rip out your eyes and piss in the sockets" certainly makes a change.

Just finished this! Got A ending!
Absolutely one beautiful brilliant gaming experience. Loved every hour of this 20 hour adventure.
Wasn’t at all frustrating, found it fair. No difficulty spikes to hamper progress.
Automata next I see, Returnal can wait a week.
    :)

The game isn't finished until you have done all of the endings (assuming you have only got the first "A" ending from your wording). I would suggest finishing all of them before moving onto Automata (and then doing its main endings in order too).

I haven't bought the remake yet but probably will at some point soon. I did finish the original (and Automata) though.

Anyone know how it runs on a base PS4?
