The 2 best things for me were the Danganronpa Switch ports and AW remakes. A proper new AW would be preferable but anything is better than nothing / endless Fire Emblem games. M & Rabbids 2, Metroid 5, BotW 2, Skyward S HD and Mario Golf were also all nice to see despite all being revealed previously / leaked ahead of the show. BotW2 did leave me a bit deflated though. Not entirely sure why. |

Registered 5 years ago@PazJohnMitch Probably because the game world is technically the same. At least on ground level. The sense of wonder will be hugely diminished second time around. More so if they've not added to it.
However, with the floating islands likely acting as dungeons, there's potentially a lot of more tightly focused content for those who got bored just wondering about. -

Registered 18 years agoBig Advance Wars fan here, more so of the simplicity of the first two over the others.
Having said that, the Advance Wars ports should have been on the system four years ago. I feel like a right mug for feeling some excitement for it now.
ETA: didn’t realise these are remakes. Just release the originals again!

Had the same reaction to the BOTW2 trailer. Don't know if it'd because we've experienced that world already and seeing zelda being taken in that direction, it's incredibly difficult to better. Still, BOTW but in the sky? I'm sure it'll be great but... Eh.

Overall Xbox left me more excited about the prospect of games Pass and I don't even own any of their platforms. Yet. Its getting far too difficult to ignore.

Registered 7 years agoYup, it's a great service and it's only getting better with the acquisitions they've made and the games that are going to continue to be added.
Ive resigned myself to the fact that I'll end up getting an x. I've got for a horizon 3 and 4 on the pc already and my lad will love playing them.

My opinion of the visuals has flip flopped all evening, much like with Metroid Dread, but I think they're ok. In fact, if it wasn't for the soldiers themselves, I quite like it. Obviously the pixel art is way better, but if this style opens it up to more players (even casual ones), then perhaps the series might be revived properly down the line.

Registered 5 years ago@Wayne Kinda like Link's Awakening they probably don't expect it to sell to anybody but series fans. Advance Wars Reboot Canp is also full price, but that is at least 2 games with added online play. -

I might be just getting old and a bit bored by the lack of innovation in gaming these days but not much I'm excited about.
A new Battlefield looks good (though if no crossplay that's annoying as I play on PC but most of my mates are on Xbox), and it's been a long time since I played 5, but otherwise not a lot piqued my interest. -

I noticed on the Zelda trailer you don't see the characters face. They have slightly longer hair than Link and at the beginning you see Zelda fall then a skydiving scene.
I reckon you play as Zelda in this one. -

It’s realistically gonna be 2023 before the game releases, so I’d say that’s probably worth worrying about closer the time.

Registered 17 years agoI think there were plenty of good looking games shown, just no big new announcements. As a result there was nothing really impressive despite a handful of games of interest, and even fewer are actually new (I think it was literally only GotG and Metroid Dread for me).
MS's event was the best one, imo, just for the amount of games on show. As ever, most are multiplatform so they're interesting but not for MS specifically. I think it was really only FH5 that was the 'oooh' moment for me there (but it was a big 'oooh').
GamePass is continuing to justify their approach with the Day 1 launches but I don't think a service is a thing that's going to "win" E3, or any event. It's good for the consumer to see that they're going to be supported well though. Still waiting on a proper Fable gameplay reveal, and I'd like to see Starfield show something other than a launch safety check cinematic (nice ship textures though).
I really didn't want multiple consoles this gen, but I can feel my resolve crumbling for the Series X. For FH5 and Halo Infinite initially, but Starfield, 12 Minutes, Replaced, and eventually Fable, and potentially some 3P GP stuff.
With Sony fucking around with cross-play and MS being so consumer friendly, I can see my usage going back to the OG Xbox and 360 days of Xbox being general use and PS being exclusives. Maybe I'll just build a PC.

Teenage me probably would've had that kind of reaction to the prospect of a 2D Metroid sequel on a home console. I just about managed "oh, cool" on hearing the news and "looks alright" when watching the trailer.
Ah... The joys of being a jaded miserable old cunt!
Just remembered that I need to find my Switch now which has been buried in a box since moving house in Jan... Suppose I've got a while to get around to that!

Certainly, yeah. Still, interesting if a potential new Switch model is capable of doubling frame rate in a large open world game like BOTW. Time will tell.

Quite interested in the Super Monkey Ball bundle, although there may be some rose tinting. -

I tried one of the recent ones and it was absolutely awful. I could not tell if that was just a really bad game or if the concept had aged badly. (Kind of concluded it was a bit of both).
