Registered 16 years agoThe issue with reddit it the design of it goes against long running threads, which makes it pretty antithetical to how this place runs. By design old threads get pushed down and don't get bumped up when someone new posts. You can sticky them but I think there's a limit on the number (two?). Also, once you get beyond a certain number of posts in a thread, it starts behaving weirdly (apparently), which is why you tend to get weekly (or whatever) sticky threads instead of long-standing ones.
However, if there's only a dozen of us, I guess a lot of that's moot. -

Wow. I never thought this would happen. The EG forum always seemed plenty active to me and one of the thing I actually valued about was - is - the contributions of many familiar regulars.
I’ve no real understanding or interest in Discord so this might mark the end for me. Trying to shift established communities just doesn’t work - I was a regular on the now deceased Guardian Gamesblog, but that went too.
I just hope the EG overlords realise that the Forum is a key reason why I - and I’m sure many others - visit Eurogamer in the first place. Closing it is one fewer reason to come to the site…
