That's exactly the point.
Shit otto, what were you expecting? You didn't see this coming about 45983459843 years ago? -
Well I'm an Apple fanboy and I was made an Apple fanboy by the iPod but, I dunno, I think the iPod's beginning to hurt the Apple brand. Like he said, it's just endless rereleases of the same product with no very obvious improvement - just a bit smaller and lighter. This 'nano' is just a shuffle with a screen. Whoop-de-doo. When are they going to start amazing us with some really cool new computer stuff, or a media centre, or something? We've been expecting it for *ever* - jeez, over 6 months since the mini launch and still no iVideo Store? -

Er, take the dock with you. o_O
EDIT: Hm. Just noticed it has to have a dock to connect. Not much good for yoinking music from a mate's machine. -
Looking at it again, what do you mean you need the dock? No you don't. Just the normal cable. -
Gremmi wrote:
Dock connector just means the dock-shaped plug at the end of the supplied USB cable. You don't need the dock to connect.
Ports on the Nano - Dock connector, stereo minijack
Connectivity - USB through Dock connector

No indeed, but I'm bloody disappointed, even though it was expected after he cancelled the keynote at Paris in a couple of weeks' time.
Yeah but, this was a music event. Surely you weren't expecting them to roll out anything other than a new music product?

You're looking at the wrong thing. It's not an accessory because it's supplied. You seriously think they would sell an iPod Nano without supplying the cable you need to connect it to the iTMS? The "dock connector" is the slot at the bottom into which the USB cable attaches thusly. Instead of the usual mini-USB connector, the USB cable has the (traditional since 3G) male dock connector, which will come in the box.

Heheh. This about sums it up.
I'm with you otto. I'm guessing that not much is going to happen till the first intel macs launch...
I still dont understand how they are going to manage that transition smoothly. I guess we will see.

So they've actually dropped the mini but they're keeping the shuffle? Hmm. I must say, I'd be a hell of a lot more excited about this if the mini and the shuffle had never happened. As it is... Hmm. -

As it wasn't a proper keynote, I for one expected exactly what we got. The disappointment comes from an expectation that they had something exciting up their sleeve for this autumn, something along the lines of a media centre type gadget to work with iTMS to stream HD video to a TV via a revised airport express or something. I was sure they'd be pulling that rabbit out of the hat this year, but with the Paris keynote cancelled I suppose not.
And it wasn't a proper keynote anyway so what exactly did people expect? A 'we're doing a G5 PowerBook after all' or something?
