If he made a PC version of it you'd probably see his markte share sky rocket.

Unfair to blame Microsoft for them sucking though... I mean the iPod did well in a market where most devices were average. I used to have one of the first CD mp3 players (which got broken recently when I dropped it) - but luckily when I came to get a HD mp3 player there were better mp3 players (and less lame-looking) than the iPod, so I didn't have to suck on the beige pole.

Fucken SEE that, Jobs? You have the Microsoft-esque market share, and I STILL won't touch your products. Suck my beige balls you fucking beigeonaught!

    *cough*...sorry...

    ;)

Actually "beige-balls" sounds like the condition where you can't wait to get to the Apple store and pop your cookies over some newly-released piece of plastic.

    Wanky know it all comment:

OSX will be released for PC's.

    You know it makes sense.

Ah right, so it's all the fault of the MS monopoly; we should just ignore Apple's difficulties throughout most of the 90s that helped get them in to this position in the first place, right?

    LOL

But maybe white-balls is more appropriate.

How can the market shares even compared? Considering one is offering an OS, the other is a hardware manufacturer with an OS that only runs on this hardware. That's a bit like comparing market shares of, um, shoes in general and astronauts' suits including shoes. Or something.

Astronaut shoes only have such a poor market share because of gravity's monopoly.

Patronisation? I thought I was just stating facts?
  • Deleted user 13 September 2005 23:25:50
Yeah, because a baseless generalization is of course fact.

Yeah - s'pose "... so I didn't have to suck on the beige pole. Fucken SEE that, Jobs? You have the Microsoft-esque market share, and I STILL won't touch your products. Suck my beige balls you fucking beigeonaught!" should've been a pretty clear sign that we were having a serious, argument and fact-driven discussion. My bad.

No, this is a sensible discussion we're having, no need for any of that hoo haa.

You gotta admit, though, the iPod does look pretty girly.
Now if only Sony'd get their crap software sorted out. What's the point in software you can upload to a unit with which can't copy back off a unit? I took my laptop somewhere with me and was quite pissed off to see I couldn't copy from the unit to my laptop.

I think it looks pretty stylish, TBH - specially the nano. The new Sony *does* look rather nice, tho.

I've just gone for an iPod mini over a Creative (Zen?), because I found the Creative to be a bit too plasticy. I prefer the smooth, elegant look of the mini.

I have to agree that the only glass ceiling is the one Apple impose on themselves by providing a limited range of expensive hardware, with an OS that can only run on those machines. It's always going to fall down when a company needs to make its computer purchases cost-effective.

That's why they sell so well. Personally, I could never buy an iPod unless they did it in non-U2-black and had not-shit headphones. Oh, and better sound and a decent battery life.

I didn't like the new Sony 'cos it looked too iPod-y in it's form factor, though the extra 10hrs battery life and rotatey screen are ok. For me the NW-HD3 0wns all. Only things I don't like: 1) software won't transmit from unit to PC, 2) the felt case thing it comes with doesn't have a hole at the bottom for access to the "lock" slider so you have to take it out every time you wanna turn it on/off.

Turn off the European sound-limit-thing and it sounds ace. Even with the headphones that come with it. *edit* (I did buy some expensive Sony headphones for about £27, but only wore them once. They go *INTO* the ear, and it felt too much like a pair of toy robots were spitroasting my skull.)

Interesting... yeah, there are parallels between iPod ads and GAP ads now I think about it :)
