    Good afternoon.

    As many of you will have surmised, we have today closed the account of one of our most prolific posters. Feersum Boundah is no longer welcome to contribute here after manifestly failing to adhere to the instructions of our moderators. As a result, his posts are no longer available, and we will not be permitting him to sign up again.

    This is the most drastic measure we’ve employed since we first began allowing comments on our news and features, and in this forum, but it is an action we will repeat if another user behaves with the same level of disrespect – both for forum moderators and fellow users – or treats other forum users as FB has done.

    We are not updating our comment policy at this time, but we may well do so in the near future. However, it should be taken as read that it is NOT okay to repeatedly drag threads into ‘me versus you’ territory, and treat other users as FB has done.

    While we appreciate that some of you may feel strongly about this, the move is irreversible and we will not be discussing it here. Any inquiries about forum policy, etc, may be emailed to the usual address.

    It does pain us to have to resort to this sort of measure, because we had hoped that the forum would be able to police itself to some extent, but the staff here will be paying greater attention to the forum and comments threads in future. From now on any breaches of our comment policy can be reported directly to a moderator via contact@eurogamer.net and will be investigated as soon as possible. We hope this will bring some of the larger threads around here back into balance.

    Hopefully from now on we can all get along a bit better.

    Tom.

    P.S. A knock-on effect of our actions is that some threads appear slightly broken, as FB’s contributions have been removed, leaving the threads to close up in a concertina effect. This should sort itself out as more people post to threads in the coming days.

    Just a few more words on this issue;

    Feersum Boundah was removed from the forum because he consistently dragged perfectly good threads off topic and into discussions centering on himself rather than on the topics at hand.

    People are welcome to disagree with moderators and site staff. That's what a discussion forum is about. They are not welcome to act in an abrasive, unpleasant manner or to muck up discussions on the forum by turning them into flamewars.

    This isn't a democracy, it's not a service people are paying for, and "I can post what I bloody well want" does not apply here. We had to remove a user because he was, in our opinion, damaging the forum and making it into a far less interesting and entertaining place to talk about games. It's like pruning a garden, I guess.

    I hope we rarely have to take action such as this in future.
