I saw it last night and was entertained.. The medieval fights weren't so amazing but to focus on that would be missing the point. I loved not knowing the actors beforehand allowing me to be entertained by their performance without comparing actor x with his or hers earlier movie highs and lows.. Basicly it may not be terrible original but it was nice to see many clichees not being repeated ad nauseum.. (no vampires in black spandex or leather garments being very feminine etc).. I'm looking forward to the next movies in the series and hope they keep it non-hollywood! =) |

A lot of people also think that the Godfather is a great movie. This could go on all night! Your turn.
A lot of people think that The Fast and the Furious is the dog's bollocks. I rest my case.

So, that would mean that "a lot of people like it" doesn't prove anything one way or the other, right?
Thank you. Your turn. : ) -

Registered 19 years agoSaw this film at the end of August in London, while at a film festival.
It's a great film and they have really gone to town on the sub-titles. I feel the need to see it again as I know I probably missed the odd subtlety or two.
But it definately leaves you wanting the next part and soon! -

Sorry again.
Still, that does mean that your argument about 100 impressed chavs is meaningless too. Maybe even more so, because Morriss was talking about 'half the audience' and you were talking about, I repeat, '100 chavs'. Chavs. People not quite known for their good taste. People that love The Fast and the Furious.
Your turn. I guess.

Sorry.

Registered 18 years agoBy the way, I can't believe nobody has responded to me insinuating that Boondoock Saints, Equilibrium and Avalon are shit.

This was directly after the first remark. And it was less an affirmation that the trailer was 'great' - more an exclamation of what on earth people would find to laugh at in it. Even Chavs!Even if it doesn't look that great to you, would you believe that an entire cinema would break out in giggles viewing it?
Oh. Eh. Sorry Morriss.

It was actually nothing to do with the film itself, only the trailer. I merely suggest morriss is being 'enthusuastic' with the truth. i.e. Him and his mate chuckled at the trailer and the rest of the cinema's occupents turned round and told them to shut the fuck up!.gif)
Oh and, Equilibrium is 'OK' - have not yet seen the other 2.

/really liked Equilibrium
/will own up to owning Equilibrium, The Fast And The Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Torque on DVD
/sees nothing wrong with liking pretty no-brainers*
I do worry about the subtitles though. Do they not distract from the on-screen action, and do you not have to make occasional 'should I watch this car explode, or read why it's actually exploding' type decisions?
*Yes, yes. Film or... otherwise. -

Registered 17 years agoThe subtitles didn't bother me.. it was like watching a japanese flick in that you have to pay a little more attention than if you watch an english movie.. -

Ofcourse, the best argument against Morriss is the fact that he's a Jamie Cullum fan..gif)

Registered 20 years agoWell I apologise for not mentioning it, but I only found out shortly before 10pm that the first 15 mins were on the Sci-Fi channel tonight.
My thoughts ?
I have seen the trailer previously and it was on my to watch list as a consequence. After watching the preview as such I have to admit that it has raised my interest further. For a supposedly low budget russian movie it looked really impressive and the story seems pretty interesting into the bargain, I liked where it was going.
Can't really say much more, but *ahem* cough it shouldn't be long till I get round to watching it.
As for boondock saints, I have a love/hate relationship with it ! In that I love to hate it, yet I Still bought it.....it's such a shamefully acted\wooden dialogue film, yet I still feel compelled to watch it, tongue in cheek or not....!
