saint's row preview I'll quote the offending piece for ye lazy ones: Last but not least, after we were told that there was no ability to fly aircrafts in the game due to the DVD drive’s inability to stream the environment fast enough in full 720p resolution. We asked Jacques Hennequet (Producer for Saint’s Row), “If the Xbox 360 Hard Drive was standard across both SKU’s, would flying aircrafts in the game have been a reality?”, Jacques simply answered “Yes”. While he completely understands why MS made the decision to not include a hard drive in the Core System, I think he felt somewhat disappointed, as it could have opened up much more possibilities within the gameplay for Volition's first Xbox 360 title. tick....tock....tick....tock.... Uh oh...inexperienced developer's fault shurely?
-
It's by Volition, isn't it? In which case you could hardly call them 'inexperienced'. That said... you couldn't call them 'much good' either. .gif)
The Saint's Row preview in gamesTM a few months back looked rubbish. -
Yet another "gats 'n gangs" game huh? -
From the preview:
"One of the most anticipated games coming to the Xbox 360 is Saint’s Row."
Please tell me that's not true. "One of the most anticipated"? For a fairly mediocre-looking Grand Theft Also? :-/ -

Didn't Volition do everyone's favourite space-sim, though or am I making things up again? -
No, they didn't write Elite. .gif)
They did do Red Faction. And Summoner. And... some more rubbish games. -

There is some question of exactly how many people are still there who worked on it. The great Interplay exodus claimed a lot of the talent in the studio at the time. -

Registered 18 years agoIt wasn't all that good. And Red faction II was utter shite.
Red faction was very hyped up though. In no small part because of the geo-soemthing engine which would supossedly allow you to dynamically destroy everything.
Which of course only properly worked in the mines in teh first levels and in designated spots afterwards.
Still though, big hype at the time -> high scores -
Well, it's not rubbish, but it's just so average and boring that I couldn't be bothered finishing it. Tedious-o-rama. -

Registered 20 years agoI think in the last 4 years since RF there has been more movement. Internet block prevents me getting more details but I would expect more than a handfull of people to have worked on both FS and SR -
