Now - I look at these and then I look at those PGR 3 pics and I think, "the Forza ones look next gen, and the PGR3 ones do not". Maybe you don't agree!

I did find Bodybuilder's thread on it but the images had gone, so I didn't mention it. Sorry!

Have they been confirmed as real though? Because they look suspicously like somebody took some pics off a random CG site and stuck a poorly made Forza 2 logo on them.

Well, I'd like them to be real.

Well yeah, but the door is fully modeled, as are all the gaps between the panels. That seems a tad unusual and a bitt over the top for a real time car model. Even in a next gen game. As has been posted before PGR3 doesn't have that.

They must be real because the car is so shiny. Shiny = next gen!

I don't get this whole "shiny = next gen" thing. I just bought a cheap copy of Burnout 2 - That's VERY shiny, and it came out 3 years ago. Burnout 3 had much less of the shinyness. Maybe it's just a phase while they work out how hard they can push the rendering before it falls to 10fps?

Well whatever game they are from (if they are a game) I can finally say that the graphics are better than GT4.

Are people calling them fake because they're not confirmed as 'official' or fake because they think they look too good?

They'd be comfortably achievable on any next gen machine

    They look super-imposed.

Fake because there's no way that's what you're going to see in game (for me at least).

I don't think they look "too good".

Here's a rendered car from 2003, with proper shine (whatever that is) and probably sporting a much lower poly amount than the first shot.

The reason why specular is so popular with the devs is because it's doesn't cost anything to add and "everybody" loves it.

It doesn't take much to render a nice STILL image of a car, but shove 20 of those cars together on the track, with trackside detail, lighting, high definition and depth-textures and god knows how many maps for bumps, then dirt effects, foliage and suddenly you find developers cutting corners.

So perhaps Forza's "photo mode" might look like that, but in game - nah, I'm not convinced.

    ...

    What?

Its speculation if they are real or not. Nobody here knows 100% if they are real or fake.

I'm simply saying that if they are real, they are better than GT4's graphics. Pretty obvious if they are next-gen graphics, I know. But I haven't personally seen a racer with better graphics than GT4 since, well, GT4.

I'm not trying to start a fanboi argument here anybody btw, so don't bother starting.
