Hell yeah. Can't wait to open up that beautiful box and smell that new console smell. Good gaming times are on the horizon people. We've got Xbox 360 near. PS3 coming later. Everythings being made better.

The experience of buying a brand new console is better than most games. I certainly can' t be the only one who very closely looks over a new console, judges its weight, stares at it from all different angles, dusts it about 4 or 5 times for the first hour.

It's a bit like getting a new girlfriend (not that I dust anyone): you give her all the attention in the world. And then, over time, that fresh dating feel starts to wear off. Yes, console launches are the greatest and we all know it. I don't care if Xbox 360 didn't have a single game at launch, I'm buying it and I'm going to love it, figuratively.

However it would be immensely polite of Microsoft is they told us what the hell games we should be expecting on launch day. I'm buying something, I don't care if it's "Fuzion Frenzy 2: Zach's Voice Gets Even Squeekier", I'll buy it.

And if any of you have played Fuzion Frenzy (or even remember the Xbox launch title), congrats. If any of you remember Zach from Fuzion Frenzy, then I'm sorry. He's the most annoying character of all time.

You think two "I'm really excited about Xbox 360 threads" is a lot? I'm gonna be typing my ass off come the final 10 hours of waiting-- probably throw in some "haha you have to wait longer" lines to tide me over.

console launches don't happen all the time. we should all really learn to savor them.

Is there a forum thread (or EG article) anywhere that says what the launch line-up is? I've searched but can't find one.

I found this thread. Nothing in particular there I'm after but then I don't know that much about a lot of those games. It would be nice if The Godfather was good.

I don't think there is anything reliable out there with regards to the launch lineup. The biggest specialty gaming retail stores in America have a list that they'll show you if they ask, but it has games like Elder Scrolls coming out on Day 1.

But you know, I just got an Official Xbox Magazine "Xbox 360 Launch Guide" a few days back, and it too said Elder Scrolls was coming out Day 1.

I'd be really surprised but I'm not getting my hopes up for that one.

I think we'll have to wait for something reliable.

meh, not much is being interrupted from the Xbox to Xbox 360 transition. There are a lot of really good games coming out for Xbox 360 rather soon. And since money isn't an issue, I'd be more pissed off if Microsoft wanted to extend the Xbox's life even more. I want some new graphics, new sounds, new controller, new Xbox Live features, and a new unbreakable headset and a new much better design and I'm damn ready to pay for it.

Things are always rushed at launch, might as well get the launch done with so developers can sooner stop having to rush themselves.

One of the XBox mags over here has got a hands on preview and a video clip on the DVD of this. It lists the release date as TBA, but it must be getting close. I can scan the mag article if you're interested.

Edit: just spotted the mag came out before the console launch date was announced, which might explain the TBA.

Rhythm, with each successive generation of videogames I have had more fun than the previous one. Later games for the Xbox are indeed the very best for that console (as is true for every other console), but I usually don't even like them as much as the first year games for a new console. I like the idea that they're using the Xbox to it's potential, but I still think games on a new console not using the potential are better. I prefer better graphics, better sound, better technology, better features overall.

Plus, I'm ready to get my HDTV revved up. Every game offering some level of support??? Hoooowee. Ever played a console game on high definition TV? It's fuckin amazing.

if there is any interesting information about the release of the title within the article, it would be appreciated. if it's gameplay details, don't worry about it. I'll learn that in due time.

Can you name a few of the really good games ? At the moment I'm desperately unexcited about 360 - I don't really see any killer titles that make me think I need to rush out and get a new Xbox day one. Have I just missed them ?

Oh and racers with shiny cars really don't do it for me.

well certainly clive I could think Xbox's 360's "launch and rather soon" lineup is really great, and you could think it's horrible. it's based on what type of gamer you are, and for me Xbox 360's lineup looks really good:

    Call of Duty 2
    Perfect Dark Zero
    Project Gotham Racing 3
    Elder Scrolls IV
    Ghost Recon 3

Yeah, it makes me look like a sequel whore. And maybe I am now. But these are my type of genres, and when you combine them with Xbox Live support, I'm one very happy camper.

and as of writing and before I go to bed, there are:

55 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes, and 49 seconds until Microsoft unleashes Xbox 360 onto it's mother country.

What's the US price of the 2 units Bill? Just wondering whether we're getting our usual currency conversion of $1=£1!

Well I'm interested in Cod2, Elder Scrolls IV and GR3 but I can have them all on my PC, and play with a mouse and a decent monitor.

I really think MS releasing 360 without any killer Xbox only titles is a mistake - although perhaps the US market will consider Madden 360 to be a must buy.

Well, obviously the Xbox 360 would be better off with a killer title, but if the options for Microsoft are to gain an exclusive Christmas season at the expense of no killer-app at launch or skip this Christmas to wait for a killer-app to be made, I think Microsoft's done the best in this case. The earlier the Xbox 360 is released, the sooner developers are going to understand it's architecture and start churning out the really interesting games.

I think people don't realize that such a short worldwide launch in North America, Europe, and Japan is unprecendented-- and I expect Microsoft doesn't intend to undersupply the market, which is typical, but instead overwhelm the market with supply. I think they want to sell as many as possible as quickly as possible. The 360, compared with the first Xbox, should release to absolutely massive sales.

Have they explained how that works yet? I know you need the hard drive but didn't they say games would have to be patched or something to make them work? It all sounded like a mess at the time.

I think the plan is that the harddrive will come preloaded with patches that allow you to use Xbox 1 games, and then later on you'll be able to download more patches through Xbox Live that will let you play the rest.

Actually Clive, the developer has stated that the XBox 360 version of Elder Scrolls will look better than the PC version... at least for the next year or so, until PC technology catches up.

GR3 will be a different game than the PC version according to many reports.

    You've got a point with CoD2 though :-)

I see your point, however MS should have done the sensible thing and delayed Halo 2, thereby making it a launch title for 360. At the moment it looks to me as if MS have reacted to Sony going spring / summer 06 and simply pushed 360 out of the door 6 months early to gain market share.

I fully understand why they've done it, but I'm not sure this was even a medium term decision. Momentum is everything, if 360 gets off to a poor launch due to a lack of titles then it threatens to be rapidly overtaken by Sony come PS3 launch time.

    IMO of course.

Tricky - yes, I'm sure the 360 version will be graphically superior but will it be on my relatively cheap TV ? Not a chance, so £300 for an Xbox+game and another £300 for a decent TV = £600 for a better graphics experience. No thanks, I think I'll stick to my trusty old PC for the moment and then choose 360 or PS3 later in the cycle.

" I'm gonna be typing my ass off come the final 10 hours of waiting-- probably throw in some "haha you have to wait longer" lines to tide me over." - Does that mean that yer a yank? And if so, wtf are you doing here?

"They better ensure people that there's going to be other ways to get those patches though, Bill. I know quite a few people without broadband and more that have broadband but that won't connect consoles to the net. " - I heard rumors about that ms is planning to post demo stands @ stores where you can acces xbl and download content to your mem card or portable HDD. Sounds a bit farfetched to me, but it could be done i guess.
