Your probably way too late in the development stage for this, but Pro Evo on the Wii had an excellent and revolutionary control system that was easy to grasp and would be possible on a computer as far as i can tell, and i cant understand why it hasn't been done before.

If you plan on a sequel this could be what sets it apart from other PC football games.

Have you been able to do any more on this, Menace?

I found a vid on Youtube and remembered I was interested in it a while ago - looks good, hope you can get it released!

I've been playing Total Football 2000 and New Star Soccer 3 lately, yours has similar ideals - I hate how crosses / long balls etc. are so automated in Pro Evo & FIFA.

You have some really good ideas on how footy games should be and I'd love to see it finished - good luck!

Not that I want to turn this in to a Vs debate, but I thought I'd mention that the last couple of FIFA games have a fully manual option for all types of passing and shooting, enabling you to play the ball exactly where you want.

    Might be of interest.

Nah, it is of interest, actually!

I sold my 360 when I got married, though (although the kids have one, it's a pain to set up with my plasma every time I want to use it!) - so I've gone backwards, rebuying an old xbox (games for £2.50 each ftw!).

So I'm now on Xbox and Wii - I do like PES 08 on Wii due to the freedom of control.

I do like the newer FIFA games anyway (had 07 on 360, didn't realise about manual passing) although now I only have PES 5 and FIFA 05 on Xbox, which is quite enjoyable for what I paid - 50p!. I've always been a champion of manual passing in footy games, so that's good news.

This seems more in the mould of Sensi and Kick Off - but looks miles better than the atrocity that was Sensi 06 from what I can gather - it's certainly eagerly anticipated here.

First of all thanks the kind words! I'm glad too hear that people haven't completely forgotten about the game! =)

There's no news to speak of I'm afraid. We still want to finish the project asap, and have made a plan where we cut some corners and lower ambitions in some areas - without comprimising the core gameplay - and the ambition is to update the missing features later with patches or include it in a completely new release (WOF 2).

I haven't had a chance to try the Pro Evo system on Wii, and neither have I played the latest FIFA (08), but I've seen movies and read all the praise it gets. We'll stick to our setup though, which I would describe as a mix of KO/Sensi and PES/FIFA taking the best of both worlds.. =)

I'm too excited not to share this: We're reviving WOF.

Talks have been underway and I've assembled a new team and we're getting thins started again. There's nothing to show yet but we have a more experienced team now and a new businessplan is coming together also.

Best of all we have a new control system that eliminates the need for a gamepad to play this on PC. We're building it for online play from the ground up and we already have crude online up and running. I don't know when I can show or tell more but just had to share this..

    That's it.. carry on! =)

I feel so happy about this but I don't blame if people aren't buying this yet as we did fail to deliver the last time we attempted to develop the game. Still, just had to share it and I don't have any real friends.. =P

Understandably you might not be at liberty to disclose... but in terms of looks and playstyle are you guys going for the same sort of thing as before?

Yes. Same look more or less - and the same 'simple' gameplay - and we're trying to make it work so that it will be free to play - and if that fails maybe a small subscription fee (to pay for server cost and maintenance). All that is being discussed at the moment though so can't say for sure.

Looks very cool, Menace, like it a lot. (presuming the old screenies look similar to the new 'redux' with the new team.

You've get a bit of diversity in with the eyebrows, though ;) And if you're developing, I fully expect Man Utd to be hopelessly and wonderfully overpowered in the release, thus completely destroying the balance of online play. :p

    Good luck.

Hehe, cheers. No worries - We will listen to a vocal community and try to get the balance just right for everybody! Promise! ;)

We've had a few tests online using the Unity web player already, and tonight we're having a full-on stress test with 20 clients running. If the test goes well we'll continue using Unity meaning it will indeed run in a browser! =)

Hooray! \o/ If you manage to incorporate persistant leagues you could be on to a great earner and you'll help drop productivity in the country by at least 50%.

We've got a new forum up and running also. Not a lot going on yet but hopefully we'll get a few more discussions going soon.

We're currently testing the Unity engine for online stability and latency and such - so far things are looking good. I'm also making myself familiar with the engine and now you can get a first glimpse at WOF running in a browser. You can't interact with anything yet, you'll only see a footballer on the pitch showing some animations and then stop.

To view it you must first install the unity web player - and then download two small files from our site. Click the unity web player link and download the plugin and install it, then right click and download the two files. Once the web player is installed simply double-click the 'buildnrun_test_00.html' file see it.

    file1
    file2

That's all for now, I hope you enjoy this little teaser view! =)
